34th ANNUAL CAMBRIDGE RIVER FESTIVAL Saturday, June 1, 2013, 12:00 Noon - 6PM
The Cambridge River Festival is an annual celebration of the arts, attracting 200,000 annually. This FREE event along the banks of the Charles River features jazz, folk, roots and world music performances, dance, art demonstrations, family art-making activities and over 100 specialty food purveyors and artisans!

11:50AM at CREATE (JAZZ, R&B, & WORLD MUSIC) STAGE 1- Jazz starts at 12 Noon - TRE CORDA TIM RAY - generates a compelling sound all its own. Blending composition and improvisation in new and unexpected ways, using the musical vocabulary of classical composers like Bartok and Stravinsky, as well as songs and ideas from the worlds of jazz and popular music. Tre Corda concerts have satisfied and delighted audiences with both jazz and classical expectations.
1PM to 2:20PM grab lunch at one of the vendors and explore rest Cambridge River Festival + Vendors
2:30PM Area E - Check out POET POPULIST at WEEKS FOOTBRIDGE -2011/2012 Cambridge Poet Populist Toni Bee, brings both sides of the river together by hosting both Cambridge and Boston based poets and “Poet Crews” in addition to her signature “Music/Poetry Mash-Ups.” Participate in a creative writing, interactive activity. All are encouraged to mix and mash words together on the community magnetic poetry board. Poet Populist Lo Galouccio at 2:30pm.
3:05PM INSPIRE (THEATER) STAGE 3 for CENTRAL SQUARE THEATER -CABARET SERIES (Never‑Far‑From‑Home:‑Love‑Songs‑About‑Leaving)- As the summer begins, four friends gather to resume an old routine. But something - or someone - is missing‑from‑their harmonies. The Cabaret Series‑fuses music and story in a freshly imagined cabaret setting, making this classic form accessible to a contemporary audience with live accompaniment on piano, strings, and percussion.
3:05PM INSPIRE (THEATER) STAGE 3 for COMPANY ONE -A performance piece based on our summer show. HowWe Got On: Spoken word poet and hip-hop playwright. A theatrical coming-of-age mix tape about how we become the people we’re meant to be, flowing and rhyming our way to adulthood.

4:05PM to 4:30PM INSPIRE (THEATER) STAGE 3 for IMPROV BOSTON. Fast-Paced High Energy Interactive Comedy! From the professional stages of Improv Boston (Central Square), our Touring Company travels across the country performing day and night for audiences of all ages. Don’t miss the chance to see this elite team of comedy veterans in action.
4:30PM IMAGINE STAGE 2 We’ll see the last of the 4PM show for MAURA MENDOZA –started her musical training when she was 14 years old in El Salvador and later in Panama. She attended college in Havana, Cuba and Mexico City. Background includes musical theater, acting and dance + has played many local venues exploring rock, jazz, acoustic and pop music. She performs regularly in the Boston area, blending her Latin roots in music with local jazz
5PM IMAGINE STAGE 2 for ODAIKO NEW ENGLAND -(ONE) was founded in 1994. ONE is composed of diverse individuals with a multitude of backgrounds, talents and skills. ONE seeks to bridge the boundaries of race, class, culture and religion – and to heighten awareness of this beautiful and powerful performance art. Odaiko New England integrates the powerful sound of the taiko (drum) with graceful movement to create a dynamic and visual performance that is memorable and inspirational. With its own unique style, ONE fuses the traditions of Japanese rhythms with the musical influences of many cultures to create a contemporary American taiko aesthetic.
