Fourth of July - Harvard Square - Drinks, Sunbathing, Ice Cream

Forget the Esplanade, let's chill in Harvard Square!  -  Feel free to drop in, leave, return, whatever makes you happy.

  • We're going to start by spending a few hours in Charlie's Beer Garden.
  • Then move over to the Cambridge Common (about a few hundred yards away) for sunbathing, frisbee and overall mingling.
  • Then, we'll head over to the Charles Hotel to enjoy their outside bar (which usually includes a Legal Seafood's oyster bar).

Be sure to bring towels, blankets or frisbees for the Common.

SCHEDULE (Again, feel free to come and go as you please):

Very informal. Very laid back. Very fun.

Feel free to repost this on your Facebook and invite your friends. Don't feel that you have to show up on time or stay for the whole thing.

    Hey, Dave.
Just have to echo what everybody's been saying: great job putting together a laid-back, fun event. Deciding to bag plans to hang out on Cambridge Common, considering the heat, and to go, instead, to John Harvard's, was key. Looking forward to attending another event like this, sometime.

Dave organized a great event once again! Heat lovers and air conditioning lovers alike had a good time. Everyone was out to make new friends. Very glad that I did NOT wear jeans. The poor guys that did, suffered.

Hi Dave, Sounds like a nice event! Would you recommend driving in or taking the T? Any recommendations on a good place to park? I'm coming in from the suburbs. What's the closest T stop to these venues? Please let me know.

    • Dave

Derek, don't park in Harvard Square as it will cost you a fortune. You can try street parking but I would just go to mbta website and look at the park situations at Alewife or Quincy Adams or other stops. You can pay five bucks for the day and then it's a straight shot to harvard

Is it adult only event? I wouldn't want to leave my kids home with sitter on such fun and eventful day but still would love to meet new friends?

    June 26, 2013

    • Dave

Raisa, you can bring your kids but we're going to be in a bar at the beginning and then an outside bar at the end. Also, adult conversations are the norm, so if you're cool with that, no worries.
