Friday night there will be a meet and greet event. Traffic stinks at 2:30! Going to be a long ride!

If you did not get Wayne's Weekend Itinerary? Please contact me ASAP, and I will send it to you. We have around 20 + from Meetup joining us. Plus, another 30 to 50 from the lodge. That should give us around 50 to 75 people. All going at the same time down river. My order for a warm, sunny & dry weekend has been filled. Remember, traffic gets really bad going North after 4 pm.

I am sorry for all who have not yet sent your form and check into Wayne Potter our Host. You need to contact him, not me, ASAP. I am only another guest like you. My headcount means nothing. Wayne is not with Meetup. So he doesn't know you have rsvped. He needs your check and form to reserve boats, rooms and food. Wayne Potter wc.potter.comcast.net[masked]

Lim, I got a small blue foldable cooler if you want to use? You just need to get a gel pack? Or just freeze a few bottles of water in it!
Also CVS is selling them at 20-30% off.

I just bought a hatchback so can drive now and take others. I'm having crossbars added but don't have a kayak attachment. I live near the observatory in Cambridge.

You can get foam padding and tie down that kayak with ratchet straps! And one in the front and one in the back! That will work! The foam blocks (you can get a kit for $40.00) from EMS or other outfitters are designed to do just that! I just carry in the rear of my truck, when I go camping, then the foam blocks come out and then carry in the trailer!

A suggested list of some of the things you may want to bring with you for the kayak weekend. All of are required only suggested.

Camera: No electronics on the river. Unless, you have them in a protective case. Digital cameras die in water.
Water Gun; A paddle can work also.
Water shoes: Shoe you can wear in the water. flip flops will not do. The river will rip them off your feet.
    A small cooler:
Your own frozen drinks: for the river. Unless you just want to drink water all day. But frozen water is good also.,
There will be some refrigerators & freezer for you to place some things in, if you need to.
    A hat:
Sun glasses with a string: to tie them to yourself or around your neck.
Thin gloves to wear in the water:
Sun screen: Long pants & shirt works also.
Bug repellent, yet the bugs are not too bad on the river. But, you may go for a hike or some other event also.
A room fan & extension cord.
Bedding: Your own pillow: Blanket: Sheets: Sleeping bag,
    Towel:
    Shower shoes:

I find fingerless bike gloves works best in paddling, it prevents callous and blisters!
And I have waterproof cases and coiled or straps for anything that goes on the kayak! Just in case it flips over! And what I learn in survival training oh so many years ago! I keep survival gear (compass, first aid, a large survival knife, emergency kit in a waterproof bag in my front hatch (even if it's a few hours on a lake), you never know what thing might happen!
But that is me! I like to prepare for the worst in case it happens! (Never does), but I am always ready!

I can give anybody a ride? I am coming from the Marlboro/worcester area, be leaving after work 4pm? Heading north? We can meet like someplace of 495 (it's going to be awhile since we are all heading into home traffic)? Oh I love driving with a lot of cell phone, text driving nut cases! (I am a professional driver)!
I got a pickup truck, lots of room in the rear, and can take 3 comfortably! You can contact me directly at [masked]

I just upgraded to a hatchback a few days ago & live in Inman Sq., so I could take three comfortably from Cambridge/Somerville, though given the amt. of stuff we'll have, perhaps two--say, Lim & Heather?--would be best.

      July 9, 2014

    • Dave M.

Hi Lim, sure thing; let's figure out the details mid-next week. (I could take one more comfortably if anyone from Camb./Som. finds they need a ride.)

Hi, the event sounds great :).
I'm currently staying at Cambridge now. As this is my first time in the US, may ask what would be the recommended way to travel to North Conway? It's quite far away from Boston. Thanks.

    June 8, 2014

    • Steve O.

Lim, rsvp for the event. So, I can send you the form needed to be filled out and sent ASAP. If we can't get you a ride? You can take the bus up to Nashua NH. and I will give you a ride from there.

      June 9, 2014

    • Peggy M.

I'm coming from Lexington and can drive Lim if there's no one closer.
