Chamber music party in Wilton, CT

  • This location is shown only to members

I host chamber music parties from time to time at my house in Wilton and would like to invite the really great people I've met through this meetup to experience it.

If you like Brahms and Beethoven or better yet if you have never been to this type of party basically a bunch of great musicians play chamber music (mostly violin/piano sonatas and string quartets) while everyone else drinks, eats, and parties.

And of course the more you drink, the better we sound. And Jodi you can still play backgammon :-).

If I get 10 RSVPs I'll schedule for a Saturday night in March or April. Kids (any age) are welcome too.

Thank you all for making this such a special event. Special hat tips to Chad for inspiring the idea and getting this group going to begin with, Donna for her picture-taking and all around magical hostessness, Jeff for encouraging everyone to wear their nametags, the wonderful musicians, and to all for coming to a different kind of event with open hearts and minds and and great food and drink :-). If there's the appetite for it maybe I'll try one of these earlier in the day, say 2pm, in late Spring/early Summer, with a barbecue flavor...

anyone going from New Milford area?

    January 30, 2013

    • Melissa

Hey guys. If the party isn't until 7:30 we really don't have to leave super early. I think 6:30-6:45 will suffice. I suggest meeting at michaels at 6:30 and we can all figure out who's going with who then.

      March 6, 2013

    • Melissa

Sorry, I just saw its at 7 so we should meet up by 6:15....?

    Larry,

What should we bring to your party?

    February 22, 2013

    • Jon S.

Hi Larry. I may arrive late depending on work. Don't want to show empty handed. What can i bring? (First time to a chamber music event)

      March 5, 2013

    • Larry S.

Hi Jon, You're welcome to come at any time; the parties go pretty late. A bottle of wine or a food dish (anything goes) will keep the musicians happy :-). Thanks-Larry

Vivaldi or Debussy perhaps? I'm not sure if these composer's pieces lend themselves to Chamber music or not. I don't have a specific piece in mind.

Really, I', looking forward to whatever you play but since you ask, Stravinsky's Suite Italienne (violin/piano) comes to mind.

      February 23, 2013

    • Diann

I'm definitely fascinated by Vivaldi, Telemann, and many of the early composers. And then of course the Romantic composers.
