THIS HAS BEEN CROSS POSTED FROM WESTERN CONNECTICUT OUTDOOR ADVENTURERS WCOA MEETUP, PLEASE SIGN UP IN ONLY ONE PLACE!
This is an easy terrain trail great for newbies or experienced riders. NOT SUITABLE FOR STREET BIKES.
Do you have a mountain bike and looking to start getting out on some trails? Join us Wednesday for a little woods, rocks and roots, hard packed trail and a little paved trail from Newtown to Monroe... possibly Trumbull, if we have time.
The first 1/2 mile is quite bumpy, roots, rocks and sticks, but it is all flat. This is not suitable for a street bike... it then levels out to dirt, crushed stone and hard packed trail once we reach the Monroe town line. We will stop and take a rest at Wolf Park, use the facilities and decide if we have enough daylight to continue, or turn around.
There is VERY limited parking at the trail head. We can squeeze in four, maybe five cars. Otherwise you will end up parking on the road/grass nearby. Do not park in Interstate Lumber parking lot as they close the gate when they close the store and your car will be stuck inside their parking lot.
PLEASE CAR POOL with anyone who can take your bike. There is a commuter parking lot 3 miles from the trail at exit 11 off of Interstate 84.
Please use google maps to find directions from your starting area. These are detailed instructions to help you find the trail head.
From Route 34, turn onto Toddy Hill Road. Swamp road is 3.2 miles on your left (Toddy Hill Road becomes Bostford Hill Road). Turn left onto Swamp Road and the trail head is .1 miles just past the Interstate Lumber sign. Yellow gate.
From Route 25, turn onto Botsford Hill Road. Swamp Road is .7 miles on your right. Turn right onto Swamp Road and the trail head is .1 miles just past the Interstate Lumber sign. Yellow gate.
