Legal Ramifications of Social Marketing & Corporate Social Networking Policies

Hollywood Theater - Southglenn Stadium 14 (map)

Selected By: A former member

When you're analyzing your social marketing program taking note of the legal ramifications and pitfalls is essential. Some questions to consider:

  • What types of legality issues can arise from social networking sites?
  • What type of content is illegal to post from a corporate standpoint?
  • What are some of the legal traps of social marketing that should be avoided?

Not only the legality issues need to be considered, but also the social networking policies within your corporate office. Does your company have rules against certain social media sites? Maybe they have rules against types of comments you can make on these sites. Or even, how you can market within the sites. These are all very important questions to look at when devising your social marketing program.

Join us on February 19th to have an inside look at the legality issues behind social marketing and what you can do to avoid potential pitfalls.

We hope to see you there! Please feel free to invite associates and friends to attend this event as well!

Enjoyed being a part of the presentation and learned a lot from the other members of the panel. Thanks for all of the great questions as the discussion was very productive (as it always is with this group).

What a great conversation. So, many questions about the legal aspects of this medium. Thank you to everyone from Minor & Brown!! Everyone left with a much better understanding of legalities of Social Marketing.

I had never really thought about the need for a formal policy on social media. This meetup really opened my eyes about a glaring hole we have in our company with respect to this emerging media.
  • Susan Grebow
Excellent presentation. Extremely informative. Only wished we had more time to hear more and cover more.
  • Judy Browne
I appreciated the good information and exchange of ideas. Very helpful. Thanks to all the presenters. I will be attending additional meetings.

Excellent coverage, great panel Not a good venue for getting into groups to discuss.

Not only did we learn some more about legal issues and responsibilities, we also glean new ideas on how to implement more aspects of social marketing.
  • Patricia Robinson
This is an aspect of social media that I don't know much about and it was good to get the perspective and knowledge of 3 attorneys and 2 people in the highly regulated financial services industries.
  • Don Booher
    Good information

As always, I come away from the MeetUp and feel energized to get back to the office and get to work. Great tips and tricks. The panel today was very informative.
  • Jim Thomas
I enjoyed presenting to the group--a very engaged bunch for an early, snowy Friday morning. The venue was great, too. We could have delved deeper into the topic if the time had allowed. Perhaps a bit more time could be slottted for some more open-ended dialogue. But all in all, a great meetup.

What an amazing panel of speakers (many thanks to Minor and Brown, American National Bank and Bellco Credit Union for lending us your experts), we could have continued with pertinent questions for hours, but, having small group discussions were valuable too! I can hardly wait for "Legal part II" in a few months. Loved the Hollywood Theater venue, loved the Luna coffee (Leo, ferociuosly good), loved the yummy Duffey Rolls (again), and Whole Foods did an awesome job giving us healthy nourishment.

Panel and Discussions were very profound - as usual. Always leave wanting more. Sponsors, especially the Holliday Theatre, was over the top. Thanks.

Great session. The Hollywood Theater at the Streets of Southglenn was an awesome venue. Thank you to all of the team that made the sesison possible today! It was time well spent.

It's always great. Each time I attend, I get another piece of the puzzle to make it all work. Thanks!
  • Jim Jorgensen
Great group for sharing information on social media . . . trends and changes.

I think I'm more confused then when I went into the meeting. I guess I was expecting more definitive answers then the legal CYA responses I heard from the attorneys present. I believe someone threw out a website for their industry that was good but overall I did get a good sense of direction that was being recommended. The Genie is out of the bottle and it's not going to be put back in. Not by the marketeers that let the genie out or the lawyers trying to "mediate risk." All we can do is to attempt to direct the flow. Or to use another anology - heard the cats. Where do we go now? Thanks!
  • Steve Riegel
It was interesting hearing about how social media is used in regulated industries. I think a separate employee law social media meetup would be good for additional depth on this topic.

Jim Thomas and Peter Hodges came through once again. They are rock stars. Great meeting.
  • Kim DeCoste
This was a thought provoking meeting and I could have listened to the panel longer.
  • Donna Galassi
Learned a lot from the panel discussion and am looking forward to future events with this group.

Great info. Wish it could have been longer.

This is the first session I've attended and I found it very informative, useful - and fun! The venue at Hollywood Theater in Southglenn was wonderful. Can't wait to go back for many movie experiences there. They've devised a great way to compete with Netflix! I will plan to attend all of the upcoming sessions that are scheduled on social networking. Thanks for a great morning. Despite the snow! There's not much we won't do for Duffeyrolls!

I thought the panel was excellent. I wish there had been a bit more time for Q&A with them as opposed to the cut off for break out groups.
