Sorry you didn't like the evening Gianni.

I'm sorry you didn't like my presentation but your comments don't reflect what I said. I absolutely believe that Data Miners can make excellent Chief Analytics Officers. The point I made was that being excellent at data mining isn't sufficient in itself to make someone a good CAO. An effective CAO needs deep understanding of decision-making processes as well as data mining.

Rather disappointing, but I am sure future ones will be better, if we all contribute with some some constructive criticism, instead of saying banalities. Too many presentations, and not enough time for discussion. The last one was particularly annoying to me with his claim that a Data Miner cannot be a Chief Analytics Officer - some Data Miner (dare say Data Scientists) are not unidimensional. And after 20+ years in the job, some could be the best people for the job.

Thanks Tom for getting things started. But two presentations and more time for discussion would have been better.

Apologies but the travel situation with the flooding has meant that I have had reluctantly had to cancel my plans for tonight. Best of luck to everyone who is not coming from the SouthWest!

Unfortunately I had to pull out of this as it clashed with another event. Will the talks be put up on the web?
