A family physician, currently getting training in preventive medicine at Johns Hopkins. Never studied philosophy but I always loved intellectual discussions.
Used to attend Socrates Cafe meetings in New Jersey, then started a group in Omaha, Nebraska. Now looking for one in Maryland!
Welcome to Reel Spirit, Hadi. I hope you can join us at our next meetup, January 14.
This is an article that discusses the psychology of artificial sweeteners and caloric intake with rats. Evidently rats given artificial sweeteners will consume more calories in other food sources compared to rats given glucose, according to the abstract.
I haven't read the rest of the article, but it would seem to imply that there are dietary pitfalls to using artificial sweeteners as a way of mitigating caloric intake.
Welcome to the group Hadi. I noticed that you RSVP'ed for bowling this week. We already have a team of bowlers, but you are welcome to come to watch.
Welcome Hadi! I see you already found our first meetup this Saturday. I look forward to meeting you in person.
It was nice meeting you yesterday. The word that I couldn't come up with last night was "Solipsism". I hope this helps.
Good luck in Nebraska.
