We are the oldest, continuously gathering Socrates Café in the World. Please add your voice to the discussion.

Socrates thought that understanding the perspectives of others made him a more excellent human being. In this spirit, the purpose of the Socrates Café is not to persuade others to our point of view, but to deepen our understanding of the views of everyone who participates.

Please join us this month for the next Socrates Café and another ninety minutes of philosophical exploration.

Hello good people...I am unable to make it this evening as my daughter is sick. I am not sure if this is the proper method to do this but I did not want to simply not show up without notification. I look forward to the next one and meeting you all.

The Richmond Hts branch of Cuyahoga County Library has a meeting room. Parking is tight during the day, but in the evening there is sufficient space. It's on Wilson Mills, a bit west of 271, next to the Richmond Mall.

As to a meeting place: The new location to the renamed Coffee Phix (it will be called Zora's) will be open in a few days. So we can resume meeting there. If we do not wish to continue meeting there, I can check to see if there is a community room available at Hillcrest Hospital.

I don't think we could fit 20 people in that Peet's if we wanted to anyway. Also, in the spirit and tradition of the group, I would like to avoid chain and franchise restaurants like Panera etc. There is not one place that is going to be ideal for everyone, so the goal is to find somewhere that can meet the group's core needs. I'm hesitant to look at somewhere like a Corky & Lenny's or any sit down restaurant for that matter; as it introduces the additional logistics of things like having to make monthly reservations, people feeling obligated to order food, how to split bills at the end of the night... lots of issues that take away from the purpose of the group and distract from good conversation. Let's meet at the Library this month and the regular members can talk through it.

Corky & Lenny's, just off I-271 on Chagrin, has a meeting room - if it is available.

Please, not Peet's. The whole place is redolent of roasting coffee, and they seem not to have any exhaust fans taking the odors out. I have been there, and you reek of coffee until you shower.

There is a Panera on Mayfield Rd., In Mayfield Heights, not too far West of I-271. I think they would be glad to have us.

I would vote for the Panera. Or the new Mayfield Libr? There's slso Peet's Coffee near Beachwood. I'm happy to call around if it helps. :-) Deb

I may be a little late - it's much farther away. No library closer?

I checked the South Euclid Library first but they don't have public meeting rooms available currently. I thought Independence was a good choice as I-77 and I-480 are both right there. Let's discuss future possible locations at the meet-up.

Due to Coffee Phix being closed, the meeting location has changed this month to the Independence Library: 6361 Selig Drive • Independence, Ohio 44131

Is the meeting at the new location to be 8/12? The earlier message said they would be closed until 8/19.

Parking will be in the rear of the building at the new location. The new place is somewhat smaller than the the original location. It will also undergo a change of name. It is to be called Zora's Cafe.
