The Encryption Demolition w/Michael Buselli
Dealing with encryption in an application is loaded with pitfalls that
many people are not aware of. All of the pieces of a cryptosystem need
to fall in place just right or the data can be vulnerable to attack,
even if the crypto is not broken directly. In this talk, you will learn
some basics about cryptography and information about several encryption
algorithms in use today.
There will be a lab exercise for those that bring a laptop. Please
install Ruby 1.9.3 prior to attending the talk to participate.
Michael Buselli is a Developer Team Lead at Aon Hewitt working with Ruby
on Rails. Michael also has significant experience with systems
administration and security architecture.
Introducing the Imp w/Ralph Iden
What do you get when you combine a Cortex-M3 microcontroller, Squirrel VM, and a[masked]b/g/n WIFI radio all in a SD card form factor? An Imp. The Imp is one of the most innovative products to come along in a long time and makes it possible to easily and inexpensively internet enable almost anything.
The Imp is programmed right from your browser using Squirrel, a lightweight scripting language. Imp programs can gather data, control devices, make GET/POST requests, and even listen for incoming connections.
This device has huge potential for both hobby and commercial applications and you want to learn more about this exciting technology.
The Imp is way too much fun not to share. Come and meet the Imp yourself when Ralph presents an introduction and shows off his Imps.
Ralph is a Principal Developer at Follett Software Company with over 30 years of experience developing commercial software applications using a variety of languages and frameworks. He likes to create tools to make developing software more enjoyable and dabbling with parsers, electronics, and embedded micro-controllers. His mantra is, "Don't annoy your customers".
