Energy Data Management Demos

Let's meet to start talking about software tools for RE data!

As always, I hope to lure you in with food and drink... there will be plenty of each for you to enjoy.

We'll start off the discussion with a demo I'm working on now for using Python and some simple visualization tools to do some data an analysis and viz on a publicly available dataset.

Then, I'm hoping that one of our members can pick the discussion up from where I've left it and discuss some more advanced data analysis tools. (I've already reached out to a few asking for their help)

As time allows, we can begin a discussion that I think will need to extend into the following meeting... how to take the data and skills we've learned this month and extend them into managing data more seriously (in a DB) and visualizing it more publicly (through the construction of a simple web application).

Can't wait to see you in a few short weeks! If you have any general questions about using software tools for RE data analysis... feel free to leave them as comments below. We can spark up a conversation here and then carry some of that over to the meeting!

Thanks for these comments Sean, Tom and Cindi!

The more feedback I get from all of you... the better off we'll be. I'm hoping that in the near future we can get even more group member participation in planning and prepping events/meetings.

I'm confident we've got a great group of participants that will keep SWRE moving in the right direction here!

Here are a couple of events coming up that the group may be interested in: Clean Tech Open, June 21 in Santa Clara (rats, I can't go). And Soft Grid, Aug. 14-15 in SF.

Dave your web demo was great, I'm definitely going to investigate that charting tool. It would be interesting to see we'd solve the problem of looking a big data sets, e.g. years worth of solar production data with some type of responsive zooming so you can see the high level trends then quickly drill down and get the high resolution data.

Well organized as usual by our convivial host Dave. The charting library you presented looked very cool and I'll investigate it myself. Cindi's talk was also very good, I'd be interested in learning how to directly apply some of the techniques to logged solar data.
