32nd Annual Solar Potluck and Exhibition

32nd SOLAR POTLUCK AND EXHIBITION

Saturday, April 26, 2014

Catalina State Park

(11570 N. Oracle Road, near Mile Post 81)

10:00 am - Sunset

Join Citizens for Solar and experience the flavors of solar-cooked food and learn about solar by viewing solar appliances and exhibitions (ovens, fountains, coolers, lights, toys) and solar arts. The event is co-sponsored by Catalina State Park, Arizona State Parks.

We'll have speakers and musicians throughout the day on a stage with a PA system powered by solar energy The Potluck itself is at 5:00 pm. Bring your own oven and join us for cooking (oven set-up by 9:30 am, event opens to the public at 10:00 am), or if you do not cook with us, visit with us and bring some "solar" food to share: salad, watermelon, berries, etc. Ice is always welcome.

Bring your own eating utensils (plate/bowl and fork/spoon) and help make Tucson's Solar Potluck a waste-free event. Make sure you wear comfy shoes, a brimmed hat and sunscreen. The festival will be held come sun, rain or wind!

The cost of the Solar Potluck is free; $7/car to get into the Park.

If you have questions or would like more information about the Solar Potluck, please contact Bruce Joseph at [masked].

Citizens for Solar is a Tucson, Arizona-based non-profit solar energy organization. Our mission is to educate the general public about the benefits of solar power by demonstrating solar technology and helping people become part of the solar culture. To this end, we put on one major event each year, The Annual Solar Potluck and Exhibition. We also educate Tucsonans at public events, teach children about solar at schools, and give our advice and insights on community committees for solar and energy.

The Solar Potluck takes place regardless of weather. If we can't solar cook, we'll have a barbecue/potluck. Don't let the weather keep you away!

    Hi All!

I am new to this group. I attended the solar cooking event last year and look forward to attending this coming weekend as well.

    I get this message:

"Please confirm that you want to send the message below to all 175 members of the Solar Guild/Citizens for Solar Mailing List ([masked]) by clicking the link below."

When I click the link, I get a message to enter the 2 words, but there are no words and no field to enter them in. This has happened a number of times, so the only communication I have is directly to the message board.

I have tried to respond to a couple group emails, but the site won't let me post them, this is the only communication that gets through...

I am west of Tucson near Diamond Bell
I didn't realize this thread was on the event page, the discussion should probably move to a different area of the list...

Is anyone else on this forum living off grid?

    • Bruce J.

I've got solar, but grid-tied. Would like to learn more about what you are doing, and where you're at. (In city limits?)
