This will come as no surprise to anyone who know Arizona politics but this would be a crushing blow to out status as a leader in renewable energy.

Solar Partnership and Solar Standards Board members and Interested Parties,

Late last week HB 2789 was introduced in the Arizona State Legislature.  If passed, this bill will require Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) decisions regarding renewable energy standards and energy efficiency standards to be submitted to the state legislature for majority approval in each house.  This bill will have serious consequences for solar development in Arizona.  Handing the decisions of the ACC to the legislature circumvents the policy expertise of the Commissioners, places additional regulatory hurdles in the path of renewable energy, and undermines the voter-appointed duty of the ACC to determine what is in the best interest of ratepayers.

We have received confirmation that HB 2789 WILL be heard in House Energy and Natural Resources on Monday, Feb. 13 at 2:00 pm.  If you wish your voice heard on this issue, we recommend you begin emailing and phoning members of the committee and House leadership right away (contact information below).  We need to encourage those members to VOTE NO on HB 2789, with the talking points and sample letter to email attached.  The committee needs to hear from as many businesses and constituents as possible before the hearing Monday.

Please do not simply copy and paste the attached form letter, but instead use as a sample to help guide their thoughts.

If you are calling, please talk slowly, state your name and the name of your company, and tell them that you oppose HB 2789 and you are looking for a no vote from Rep.____.

Those highlighted below share a secretary so you only have to call once.
