I'd like to extend an invitation to all of the Solar Society to come down and check out the new Makerspace at Xerocraft for our Grand Opening this Saturday from noon 'till late.. The purpose is to provide a Do-It-Yourself workshop for folks to come down and use tools that you wouldn't necessarily have available at home. We have a lot of woodworking tools, metalworking tools, various welders available, we are setting up for some casting projects, and, of course, electronics. It's a great fit for Solar and Alternative Energy aficionados since it is easy to prototype stuff in a group setting with the right tools. The space is available during open hours at no cost to participants who just want to drop in. We will be holding classes and workshops in various skills and techniques that will have nominal charges with some of them free to participate. For the more committed DIY crowd, we offer an Affiliate Member rate that gets a bunch of perks and a full member rate that gets 24/7 access to work on projects and have storage space on-site. Our goal in the short-term is to get enough support to cover the rent and make a true Hackerspace available to Tucson. Information on the site is available at http://www.xerocr... -- - Dale
