Arduija - the Arduino controlled Ouija board - A sweet hat rack for all my sweet hats - A Tesla Coil - A Tesla radiant energy Harvester - A Tesla magnetic levitation device - Wireless energy - Pretty much anything Tesla related - Anything Cymatics related.
Soldering, I've been doing it for years. When you can rework people's incredible mistakes, on the fly, at Makerfaire, then you've mastered a skill. I can also answer most beginner-advanced Arduinio questions. I have taught many classes both as a SparkFun representative and a s a SSD representative including: Into to Arduino, Communication on Arduino, PTH and SMD soldering, Electronics rework, conductive play-dough for kids, Eagle PCB layout, Arduino Proto-snap and napkin schematics. I have been both main instructor and supporting instructor in many learning/workshop environments, large and small. I never thought I'd be good at teaching, but, it turns out, I'm not so bad at it.
The world. I see our culture, the throw away, consume everything in sight with no end, culture, as a plight upon the planet. I want to help everyone see that until we can appreciate the things we have, we aren't going to change our actions. To appreciate things, one must see the beauty in everything. Not just it's utility, but where it came from, the time and energy it took to make that thing. People used to respect the things they owned, because more often than not, they made the thing themselves. There came a tipping point when more things were bought than made, and now we are on the opposite end of the spectrum. People buy waaaay more than they make. It's time to shift it back int he other direction. It's time for the maker revolution to take form and be more than just a fad. It needs to be a mindset. It needs to be a way of living. With great power comes great responsibility. Technology and science are great tools, but only when used responsibly.
My name is Joel. Some call me Joel E B. Or just B. I am as Colorado native as they come. I work at a local electronics company, SparkFun, where I spend my time daydreaming an tinkering. I've been a part of SSD since ~the beginning.
Still great after two+ years of operation
