Tea & Talk w/ Melody Myrick

an intimate gathering of friends, old and new

I have fond childhood memories of my grandmother and her circle of friends getting together over tea to chat. It was a regularly scheduled event and much anticipated ritual in an era where people actually knew their neighbors. Have we all become to busy to take the time to really listen? It’s time to slow down and get to know one another better. Bring your favorite teacup and a little snack to share.

3rd Sundays, 2:00pm-4:00pm, Love Offering

I really enjoyed meeting everybody. Toward the end of the discussion we were talking about the traditional model of education where we are taught to define ourselves by having the answers and I had thought of Wild Geese by Mary Oliver, I'm glad to share it with you all: You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
For a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
    love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
    Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
    are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
    the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
    are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting --
over and over announcing your place
    in the family of things.

Our first Tea & Talk was an overwhelming success. I look forward to seeing where today's genuine rapport takes us in the future. What a beautiful group of new friends! Thank you all!
