SiS Open Mic @ Murphy's Pub

Join longtime Songwriters in Seattle member and weekly open mic host Erin Jordan for a night of SiS music on the last Wednesday of the month in Wallingford!

Sign up opens at 8:30 - music starts at 9pm. Street parking is available. A lot of the neighborhood is zoned, so read the signs and be careful about parking! There is usually parking available on 45th St.

There is a piano on the stage, so there is no need to bring a keyboard if
you are a pianist!

    You rock, Erin. Thanks!

Thanks to everyone who came out! Next month I'll get there earlier so we can start @ 8 if needed. Remember, the event is sponsored by SiS the last Wed of the month, but it happens *every* Wednesday and is usually not as crowded.

I'll be there again next Wednesday, though I will again be coming from another meetup and so will be a little late. Hopefully, I will be able to get on the list this time. :) If everyone that didn't get to play this week came back next week, we would have the perfect crowd.

Erin - nice job on a very crowded night. Thanks for keeping things moving and adjusting mic levels when needed. One suggestion - when it's that busy, limit performance to two songs. That way more writers have a chance to play,

      Nice job Erin

limiting to two on a crowded night would let more perform, but would also consume more time switching players and adjusting levels, so there is a definite tradeoff.

Really enjoyable event. Thanks, Erin. Next time I will arrive earlier so I can get on the list! But it was nice to sit back and appreciate lots of great talent!

hi Erin, that was quite night last night. I don't think I've ever seen murphy's that crowded before, with lots of locals and lots of SIS! I have a Guitar preamp and if i come out of it and into your board with a mic cable instead of the typical guitar cord (i can bring my own cable if I need to), then I can hook a tuner up to my second preamp output. will my using a mic cable work for you or would that be too much of a hassle? If it is its not a big deal and I will just use the guitar cord u provide.

thanks, and good luck at the crocodile tonight!

Erin, thanks for being such a wonderful host. Really enjoyed the evening. Met a lot of great people and got to hear some talented players. It was worth the drive from Duvall :-)

Great musicians as always. Unfortunately too many. I couldn't get on the play list, but enjoyed listening to those that did.

There is no limit on how many people can play. Everyone gets three songs if there is a good turn out. I let people play 4 or 5 if it is a slow night. The open mic starts at 9, but if there are a lot of people signed up before 9 and start a bit early. The bar wants the open mic to end between 12:30 and 1....so I turn people away once the list gets to 14 to avoid going over time. It is first come first serve. The list goes out whenever I get there, which is usually around 8:15.....I hope that answered all your questions! Please come out and play!

Thank you, Erin. I appreciate you replying :) I will definitely come to play.

In my experience when an open mic gets a big turn out of performers, they often go the other direction and drop from 3 to 2 songs per performer.

My sister and I would like to be a part of this event. We are one act and we have two songs to perform. However, we are unable to play instruments and we use music cds for accompaniment. Would that be ok? Thanks.

    June 23, 2013

    • Erin J.

Sorry - live music only.....no CDs.

      June 24, 2013

My bad... My apologies for suggesting otherwise.

Fun! Haven't been to an open mic in a very long time.

So this will be my first meet up... and I have a few questions about how it works. 1. How many artists/ performers normally play in one night (how long does it go)? 2. How many songs are typically played by one performer? Thanks!

I think that Erin's sign up sheet is numbered up to twelve, so on a good night, that is how many artists play. However, this last Wednesday we only had seven or eight, so a few came back up at the end of the night and played additional songs.

Typically, each performer is allowed to play three songs, though I think you could play four if they were really short, or might willingly hold it to two if they were really long.

If you haven't been to this open mic Erin is a great host and the talent is generally very good to excellent.

I will likely be there, though I am committed to another event at 7, so I will probably be a little late.
