What instrument(s) do you use to write your music?

I write mostly on Piano and Guitar. However, I have composed on such diverse instruments as Banjo, Drums, Bass Guitar, Mandolin, Pennywhistle, Native American Flute, and many more.

What comes easier for you - words or music?

I write music easily, words only by inspiration. However, I am always making notes of lyrical ideas in the hope that some of them may gel someday.

Do you imagine yourself or someone else performing your songs?

I love hearing my songs performed by others. I have never cared for my own voice. However, in recent years I have finally learned to sing well enough, and gained enough confidence, to perform some of my own pieces in public.

Are you interested in collaboration or finding a songwriting partner?

Writing with others almost always produces better results. I look forward to working with others on all aspects of writing and production. Strangely, it seems like my best songs rose out of conflict with my writing partners. Arguing about it stirs the creative embers into a flame.

What areas of your music experience are you wanting to improve? e.g. songwriting, marketing, networking, recording, airplay, gigs, etc.

I need to learn about marketing, though I have little interest in it. I would far rather improve my production skills. Anyone want to be my manager and take care of the business side while I do the easy part?

I've been playing, writing, and recording for several decades. I enjoy collaborating and helping others take their music farther. I freely lend production skills and general advice when time allows, so ask me for help if you need it.

What Griffin is saying about this Meetup Group

After a great many events, I am still totally digging the vibe. I wish I had done this twenty years ago. It is great to be able to meet and talk to such a diverse group of musicians with so many varied talents. Any musician at any level will benefit from becoming a member. I strongly encourage all musicians to jump in with both feet.
