"Part of husbanding our talent lies in finding those who are generous enough to reflect us back as talented. Creativity flourishes in an atmosphere of acceptance. As we learn to number friends to our work among our friends, that work can strengthen and bloom. Believing mirrors are believers, first of all, in the basic goodness of life. Setting aside chic skepticism, they are upbeat and encouraging. They believe in the college try. What's more, they believe in trying again. They are realists. They expect good things, but they know that good things take work."

Julia Cameron, Finding Water, pp. 552-53

The attendance for this Meetup group has been inconsistent and spotty at best. Not the best use of my time. Yet, I am passionate about this work and love to support others doing this too.

In the spirit of "trying again" I am wondering what would better serve those of you interested enough in The Artist's Way to sign up for a Meetup group and to actually attend one?

Would a meeting day / time / location other than Saturday morning at 10 am better serve you? If so, what would work better for you?

Would a focus of a chapter each month, as in take a year to wrk through the whole book, be more appealing? I know a lot of people do this book solo (I did the first 3 times) and I also know having community as we do so is powerful. Would this be a way to combine the two?

Meetup INc. recommends that organizers charge $10- $20 each session, which I haven't been doing. When I facilitate groups I have learned that free or discounts never work. People struggle to get through the material when I have done that. When people pay the full fee, they do better and finish the book. Maybe this is true for Meetup too.

However, I am wondering, if a structure for people who prefer to work solo AND would like some company along the way, a chapter a month for a small fee in an open, changing group that works through the book could work? If you haven't been able to get beyond chapter 3 (this is where a lot of people stop), then this could be an option for you to break through the creative blocks that are keeping you from moving on so you CAN move on.

I welcome your feedback. I have to consider if this is the best use of my time even though I love to meet with people motivated to work through this book in community.

And the other option for those of you ready to get serious about doing this book: there is one more week to join a facilitated group before I close it. I can take 2 more people in The Artist's Way group and 2 more people in the Walking In This World group. There is a Wednesday afternoon group forming if that appeals to you.
