I've just finished an alternate-history story about a train race set in a 19th-century California that's part of the British Empire. I'm currently expanding my 2009 NaNoWriMo book, a space opera about a mysterious artifact, to a conventional novel length. And finally, I've just started plotting a long literary novel and I can already tell it'll be a struggle to keep it from reading too much like Pynchon.
I'm a lifelong SF fan, a published reviewer of SF and magical realism, and a slowly developing writer with several projects in the pipeline. Like all of us, I have a long list of great ideas but I'm still learning how to turn them into stories.
