Roam Foothill Park with Andy and well behaved dogs! (Good Exercise)

This is not a typical Wanderers hike. Andy will be first to tell you that he isn't the organizer or leader type. But he is definitely a "roaming" type. He loves to be out on the Sonoma County trails and he would like your company if you want some late afternoon exercise. The mileage will be around 3 miles and will have some elevation gain mostly found on one STEEP hill but a hiker of average fitness will find this to be easy. If you are new or just coming back to hiking it could be moderate or even strenuous for you.

This walk is really for anyone who just wants to get out and get some exercise in the afternoon with companionship. No real structure, rules, agenda or plan...just exercise and fresh air!

Andy will leave the parking lot at 5 so make sure that you are there before the starting time.

A nice description of the park but not necessarily the route Andy will take you on can be found at:

As always:

  • Bring your smile and a positive attitude.
  • Water is always a good idea.
  • Well behaved dogs are welcome.

Directions:

From US 101 in Windsor (Sonoma County), exit Arata. Drive east on Arata about 1.5 miles, then look for the signed park entrance on the left side of the road, past where Arata turns into Hembree Lane.

Would have been perfect if with a couple more people (and dogs). I really enjoyed the pace.

    Andy,

Steep UP is OK, but is it steep down, too?

I live in the area, and walk Foothill Regional Park quite often. So I'm interested in seeing how someone else approaches it.
