Annadel State Park- Moderate (6-7 miles)

We start the hike at Parktrail Dr. from there we will take the Service Road to Rough Go, connect with Cobblestone Trail to Orchard Trail, go around Lake Ilsanjo on the Lake Trail, then south on the Canyon Trail, connecting back to the Spring Creek Trail and returning to Parktrail.

The Service road and Rough Go Trail will be open space, so be prepare for sun or wind. The rest of the trail will be mostly shaded.

This is a moderate hike ( 6-7 miles and 800 feet elevation), but take into consideration that Rough Go is very rocky and can be a treacherous trail.

A copy of the Annadel park brochure with a complete trail map is available at:

http://www.parks.ca.gov/pages/480/files/ANNADELSP2.pdf

Directions:

From Hwy 101 go to Hwy 12 East in Santa Rosa.  Take the stoplight straight onto Hoen Ave. Take a right at the light onto Summerfield Rd. Take a left onto Parktrail Dr. (2nd street on left)  Park about 1/3 of a mile down the road.

Please read and be familiar with the guidelines of the group as listed below.  It’s important before you come on a Wanderer hike that you agree and are prepared with the following.

As always:

Please always check your email the night before just in case there are any necessary adjustments to the hike details.  Cancellations or any adjustments will be posted by 10pm the previous evening.

TO BRING: YOU! glorious hiker person you – dying to hit the trails and laugh, talk, sweat and enjoy in a group of like minded Wanderers… Oh yeah, and you should always bring your hiking safety essentials, layered clothing, water and food appropriate to the outing as mentioned below.

RSVP etiquette must be followed. Only RSVP when you can commit to attend. Once you have RSVP'd if you have an emergency that means you have to cancel please change your RSVP by 5pm the prior day. This will avoid a "no-show" reflecting on your participation history. Over 3 "no-shows" might mean we have to excuse you from the group. We try very hard to respect each other in this group.

Give yourself time to find the trail head so that you arrive prior to the scheduled time.  That is the time we head out on the trail.  It would be disappointing to miss having you on the hike due to late arrival.  You will be left behind if you are not ready to head out at the hike start time.

Wear comfortable hiking shoes with good rugged soles that are well broken in.Duration:3-4 hours

Facilities: near Lake Ilsanjo

Dogs?: none allowed

Bring plenty of water.  More than one bottle is usually a good idea.

Dress in layers.  The hike starts off cool but rapidly warms up.

Bring your smile and great attitude!  We are ALL about trail enjoyment while respecting everyone’s time!

On the confirmation email, it gives the date and place with a link to DIRECTIONS. However, the Google map spot doesn't look at all like where we are supposed to be. It's Parktrail Drive, i believe. Will folks just be in their cars or waiting in the street?

Don't look at the map, check in the description of the hike and follow the directions there. The map is not accurate.

I am brand new here and would like to try this hike, but the treacherous trail sounds scary. What does that mean? Also, 3-4 hours for 6-7 miles sounds fairly slow, which I need as I'm just getting back into hiking. Anyone? Your thoughts? Thank you!

Our average sipped is 2.5 miles, we are only as fast as our slowest hiker. This is a mostly flat trail, but Rough Go is not a smooth trail, we don't want to scare you just to be aware. Hope you will join us, this is a really nice trail.

I may be a few minutes late because I am coming straight from dropping kids off at school. What trail will you be starting on? Thanks.

    August 15, 2013

We will take the Service road to the left and then go to Rough Go just before you get to the bridge.

Thank you! I just cancelled because back-to-school got crazy (getting everything taken care of) and I have to get ready for my in-laws to come visit. :/ I'll be back on the trail next week!

Do you think leaving at 8:15 from Petaluma would give us enough time?

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
