Beginners Rock Climbing @ Mt. St. Helena

Never been rock climbing? This is a great opportunity to learn the basics of top rope climbing. With a rope attached to the climber from above, rock climbing is very safe. I will be bringing a number of ropes and all the equipment needed for the group. Hiking boots are suitable for first time climbers. Climbers will also wear supplied harnesses and helmets. The hike to the climb is about a mile long. Bring a lunch and non-alcoholic drink. Climbers will learn to secure/belay the person climbing. It is important to follow safety instructions on this trip. While it is never possible to guarantee 100% safety, we will follow procedures intended to make this event fun and safe for everyone.

We will be having 2-4 people per rope, so some waiting for the climb might be required.

The gear is ready to go.  6 Ropes, 7 sets of rock climbing shoes, 7 belay devices, many carabiners, 8 harnesses, helmets, protection and packs.

Sorry for the no-show guys, I had something at work that needed to be finished today. Thought I'd get it done yesterday but I was still not complete by "too late to make it" this morning. Thanks for setting this up! Next time? I really am interested in checking out climbing!

A great day of climbing. We were all able to get in lots of practice and advance our skills. Aaron did his first lead climb while Paul and Don climbed overhangs.

With a high of 57° in Calistoga today it's going to be a bit chilly between climbs. Bring something warm to wear.
