David Engel's House
Have you been on one of our beginner climbing trips and you are looking to do the next step? On this trip, we will be going to Donner Summit for an introduction into lead climbing. Aaron and myself will be leading a two pitch easy climb. Others who are interested in learning to lead could also take a turn. Everyone else will be top rope climbing after one of the leaders. Everyone will get to learn about placing and removing protection, belays between pitches and tie offs. If you are considering joining us on our May Yosemite climb, you really need to attend this trip. If you haven't been climbing and are interested in attending, send me a private message before signing up.
The climbing is actually easier than what we have been doing at Mt. St. Helena. The slope of the rock is much more gradual. If you can climb the easiest climbs at Mt. St. Helena, you will enjoy this climb. The climbing area does have more challenging climbs if we want to do other things.
We will be leaving my house in Wikiup at 7 am and returning after dark. It will be an all day excursion and the drive is approximately 3 hours.
The lower pitch is very easy on The Nursery (maybe 5.3). The top red line is two pitches long and they are about 5.4 in difficulty.
The top of the 2nd or 3rd Pitch.
