This is the second of a two day event. Though, if you would like to just participate in one day that is great too!
General details for the entire hike and the 1st day can be found at:
Did You Know?
California condors have a wingspan approaching 10 feet. Condors soar and glide at up to 50 miles per hour, and can sometimes be mistaken for a small airplane. Did you ever want to see one? Well we saw plenty of them in February 2012 and we hope for more of the same on this trip!!
This is our 2nd (be sure to check Saturday too) of two days planned. Today is mountain goat day! We are doing Juniper Canyon, Hight Peaks, Old Pinnacles and Balconies Trails! We go through a cave(you'll need a flashlight!), climb up steps carved into the stone and you should NOT be afraid of heights to hike this trail. This trail is a showstopper! We will see rocky spires, gaze upon high peaks and get plenty of exercise. This is a challenging trail with steep ascents. The trail is 9 miles with 1500 feet of elevation gain. Bring a lunch!
If you are a physically fit hiker...this is a trail that YOU MUST DO!
From Hwy 101 in Soledad, take the Soledad/Hwy 146 exit eastbound. Drive 12 miles to the road's end at a parking lot in Pinnacles National Monument. From the Harvest Inn (where most of us will be staying) it is a 25 min drive.
There is a fee of $5 per car to enter the park.
