Mr Healdsburg Pageant 2013

Hi SWIG's.  This is a classic Healdsburg event.  If you know about it, you probably already have your ticket.  If this is new to you, and you want to attend the biggest event of the year in Healdsburg, then buy your ticket now. ($40)  This years event will be the best ever; mainly because my son, Eric Smith, will be a contestant (a 21 year old buff firefighter dude).  Buy your ticket now at: http://www.raventheater.org/event_calendar.aspx?event_id=1876  or go to Copperfields in Healdsburg and avoid extra charges.  We will start with wine and snacks at my home in Healdsburg at 5:30 and then head down to the Raven for the big event.  Please only RSVP after you have secured your ticket, and do it soon; they usually sell out fast.

Yvonne summarized the event perfectly! It was an awesome night. Here are those recipes you ladies asked for (both easy and yummy and NOT low cal!!)

    Green Chili Rice

3 cups cooked white jasmine rice, cooled a bit
    2 cups sour cream
8 oz pepper jack cheese - shredded
7 oz can mild Ortega diced green chilies
    salt and pepper to taste
1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese

Mix first four ingredients together in a bowl, season with salt and pepper and pour into a greased 2 qt size casserole dish, any shape. Put grated cheddar on top and bake at 350 degrees for 35-50 minutes until heated through. Can be kept in oven on very low until meal is ready. Great with beef.

    Jiffy Corn Casserole

1 box Jiffy Corn Muffin mix
    1/2 cup sour cream
1 cube butter, melted and cooled a bit
    1 egg
    1 can creamed style corn
1 can corn kernels - DO NOT DRAIN, use liquid

Mix all wet ingredients in a bowl. Add corn and then slowly stir in corn muffin mix. Pour into greased 8 x 8 x 2 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes - keep checking until it does not jiggle in the middle. This recipe can be easily doubled and pour into a 9 x 13 x 2 pan, increasing cook time to 1 hour or so.

Hope to see you all soon

    Enjoy!

Wow! Everyone put the F-U-N in this event! The pre-event dinner was superb -- Pam, need those recipes! The tri tip, hmmm-mmmm-good! And the pageant; lord have mercy; hilarious.. and the guys were awesome! Funny one-liners, great talent contest.. and who doesn't love an event where the M.C. is drinking wine, and encouraging the audience to drink early & often... between segments, music played and people danced in their seats & aisles, rocking to Rod Stewart, Stones, etc... What an experience.. and Eric Jr. rocked the competition, but I guess you can't beat a silver fox signing an aria, and who wore a teeny, weeny british flag thong/tighty something! And topped off the evening dancing to Undercover at Bert & Ernie's (yes, i know the name is something else!) Highlight of the year... And... keep an eye on next year's event... the gals have got together and nominated someone we all know & love.... keep ya guessing :-)

    Hi All,
Here are the details for the Mr Healdsburg event. Meet at my home at 5:30 this Saturday 2/23. My address is 1009 Borel Rd. in Healdsburg. I will be grilling up something "beefy" so you are welcome to bring an appetizer, salad or side dish kind of thing to go with it. Feel free to arrive a little early, but don't be too late since we will need to head down to the Raven around 6:45. As always, you are encouraged to bring your favorite beverage to share. And finally; if you haven't bought your ticket yet, get on it right now. This event always sells out. If you get lost, my phone is[masked]-3439.
