Winter Wineland

Please Read all of the comments that I have written in the comments section below for additional details.  Sometimes you will have to click on the "view all replies" button on each comment to see all of the replies.  Looking forward to meeting you all on Saturday.  I think most wineries will have tickets at the door for $60 on Saturday (2 day pass) or Sunday for $45

Winter Wineland is one of the best wine events in Sonoma County, and for only $45 (around 50 bucks with tax and fees) for 2 days of wine, food and fun; it's one of the best deals out there. There is also a Sunday only option for $35 (around 40 total).  I'm not exactly sure how to work this event as a group, but here is what I'm thinking.

For Saturday, everyone will be pretty much on their own for the event until it ends at 4:00 PM.  At that point we will meet up at a winery (TBD) to say hi, compare notes on the best wineries and to plan the event for Sunday.  If you are planning on buying a Sunday only ticket you could still join us at the Saturday 4 PM event so you will know what not to miss.  At this time we could informally form up into small groups of 10 or less to do the Sunday event with.  You could also reach out to other group members using the comments area and form small groups for Saturday as well.  If anyone has any ideas on how to make this a better event, please let me know.

BTW; these tickets could make a nice Christmas gift and you could skip that nasty black Friday thing that is destroying Thanksgiving.

    Andy,

Thanks for reminding me about this event. The tri-tip steaks at Wilson were Fantastic. Not that many Champagne tastings as the olden days.

Thanks all for attending this event. Looks like a good time had by all. Tomorrow morning (Sunday) we will meetup at Trione winery @ 11:30 AM. If you are starting at another winery, please get there by 11:00 opening, grab your glass and hightail it to Trione. I will not be able to attend but I think you all can figure out how to have a good time without me. Enjoy.

OK, here are the final details. For the most part, I encourage you all to form your own groups to do the tasting during the day on Saturday. If you have no group and you don’t feel like doing it on your own (I don’t blame you) then go to your starting winery, grab your glass and wristband and head to Kelly&Young winery in Healdsburg (Hudson St by Memorial Bridge). We will meet at 11:30 on Saturday in the parking lot in front of Kelly&Yong and form groups then. Please post in the comments section if you are planning on being there. At the end of the day, plan on having your last tasting at Trione winery, between 3:45 and 4:00. Start looking around to find us (ask around, don’t be bashful). We will talk about the day’s events and make a plan for Sunday.

When I try to Google this winery it says its in Geyersville. Can you give me an address? I'd like to meet the group at 11:30. Thanks.

Hi Karen. If you click on their "Tasting Room" link it will show you the address: 428 Husdon St in Healdsburg. See you at 11:30

If you have a Sunday only ticket, check back on the meetup site after 7PM on Saturday to read a posting of the Sunday plan. You will probably have to look in the past events tab to find the posting since it will be considered over by the end of Saturday. Have fun and be safe. Taste in moderation or bring along a designated driver.

I can make it at 11:30 in the parking lot in front of Kelly&Yong to meet the rest of the group if that works better for you?

Dear Andy, Thanks for doing this. Front/Hudson might be a little difficult to navigate (close quarters; no parking) once the event begins. I'm starting at Trione-big parking lot, convenient Tasting rm, close to FFC, Geyser Peak, and THE Silver Oak.

Is there anybody leaving from Santa Rosa that I could carpool with? I would like to go but would rather not drive. Would be happy to chip in for gas.

When you buy your ticket, you need to choose a starting winery. I suggest any of the wineries in the Front St/Hudson street area of healdsburg. Davis, kelly&yong and many more. Check the river road wine map for all. That way, we can kind of be together at the start.

Now is the time to make sure you have already purchased your tickets. I think Monday, Jan 13 is the last day to buy them on-line at the discount price. Stay tuned to this conversation for updates as the event gets closer.

Does anyone have a winery that you recommend for our Saturday after event gathering?
