How does a Club-Only Competition work??
Every month or two, the American Homebrewers Association invites all homebrew clubs to make an entry into what they call a "Club Only Competition". Each time, a different style or styles are called for. The club can only send one entry, and this entry will compete against the entries sent by the other clubs. Within the club, we must make a choice of which beer will be sent along. This means we must conduct a judging in order to choose between beers produced by Beerocrats, if we have more than one submitted. All Beerocrats are encouraged to submit a beer if they have it, and even participate in the judging. In order to submit an entry, bring one bottle to The Beverage People before the due date listed here. In order to participate in the judging, please contact Gabe at [masked]. Be sure to tag your beer with your name, phone number, and BJCP style category. All entries will be judged according to BJCP protocol and judging forms will be available to anyone who comes back to get them. If your beer is chosen, you will get a phone call and then will need to bring us two 11-14 oz brown or green bottles, beer ID labels must be rubberbanded around each bottle, and a beer entry form will need to be filled out. The club will cover the cost of entry and shipping and take care of the rest. If our beer wins, the club gets points that contribute to Homebrew Club of the Year calculations.
