Still Photography Workshop - Using Zeiss lenses for Dance Photography

IF THIS EVENT IS FILLED, PLEASE ADD YOUR NAME TO THE WAITING LIST. IF WE GET ENOUGH PEOPLE I'LL TRY AND ADD A SECOND DATE.

Dance photography is one of the most beautiful forms of photography, combining the artist behind the camera and the art of dance itself. Working with dancers from York University's Dance Program we hope to create some beautiful art at the studio at Sony of Canada's head office.

Great photography demands great lenses and Zeiss makes some of the greatest lenses on the market. This is a chance to try the greatest lenses on your Sony camera. We'll have all the Zeiss lenses available for this evening workshop including the three lenses for the A7R, the four lenses for the NEX e-mount and of course all the lenses for the A-mount cameras. The studio is large enough to shoot full body shots with lenses as long as the 85mm and even the 135mm prime. Bring your own Sony camera, extra memory cards and extra batteries, we'll have the Zeiss lenses for you to use and Sony staff will be on hand to answer questions about your photography and help you create great dance images.  Since Sony is sponsoring this workshop only Sony brand cameras can be used. If you don't have a Sony camera to use, let me know and I'll arrange one for you.

I've been told we'll also have the new SAL70200f28G II which is the new[masked] f2.8. This lens is just released.

Attendance and "No Shows". If you can't make the event please cancel 24 hours before the start of the event. If you fail to cancel you'll be recorded as a "No Show" and if this continues, you'll be dropped from future events.

I think it's great that Sony is giving its loyal followers these kinds of opportunities. I had a great time meeting fellow Sony shooters and learning some new techniques while also trying out some lenses I am interested in. Providing us with a studio setting, complete with lighting set-up and fantastic models really allowed us to concentrate on learning come new tricks with some new gear. The facilitators were also really helpful and engaged with people of all levels of experience. I'm looking forward to more of these. Sony, this is a genius way of marketing your camera line while creating a social "Sony club" culture among your established customers. I really hope these events continue and grow. I have a few Zeiss lenses already and really enjoyed the chance to test the 24/2 ZA and the 16-35/2.8 ZA outside of a Sony Store!

This comment has nothing to do with Zeiss lenses but with the use of Sony SLTs in the operating room.

I tried all 3 primes on my Sony NEX 6 with A-mount adapter, and even though it's not a full frame camera, the look it produced was out of this world !

You need to bring your own camera to this event, as well as memory and batteries. We'll be bringing ALL the Zeiss lenses for the Amount, Emount and new full-frame Emount lenses for the A7/A7R. We'll have the 24-70 Zeiss for the A7 that has just come out. We'll also have a couple of the new Alpha[masked] f2.8 lenses that aren't out just yet. They're not Zeiss but still wonderful to use.

We hope you can attend the event if you're one of the 20 people on the "attending" list. If you're on the "waiting list" it is still possible that someone might bail and you'll move up.

If you can NOT make it to the event please change you're response to "NO" and open the spot for another photographer. You must cancel by noon on Sunday, the day before the event. If you fail to cancel and are a NO Show, you will find it tough to get into future events because you'll be recorded as a No Show on the Meetup website. In the past No Shows for sold out events have created a problem and are a waste of money.

So please be kind to others if you can't attend and cancel by noon on Sunday. If you cancel after noon you will still be considered a no show because it doesn't give enough time for other people to schedule on short notice.

i would only use the Zeiss in this workshop that i can actually afford to buy and use on an ongoing basis.
(I have the Zeiss 24-70 on my a99). However, I am keen on trying out the a7 cameras to use on my Minolta MD lenses.
