Still Photography Workshop - Using Zeiss lenses for Dance Photography - 2

I added a third night.

IF YOU ATTENDED THE FIRST SESSION PLEASE LEAVE THIS SESSION FOR OTHER PHOTOGRAPHERS.

Dance photography is one of the most beautiful forms of photography, combining the artist behind the camera and the art of dance itself. Working with dancers from York University's Dance Program we hope to create some beautiful art at the studio at Sony of Canada's head office.

Great photography demands great lenses and Zeiss makes some of the greatest lenses on the market. This is a chance to try the greatest lenses on your Sony camera. We'll have all the Zeiss lenses available for this evening workshop including the three lenses for the A7R, the four lenses for the NEX e-mount and of course all the lenses for the A-mount cameras. The studio is large enough to shoot full body shots with lenses as long as the 85mm and even the 135mm prime. Bring your own Sony camera, extra memory cards and extra batteries, we'll have the Zeiss lenses for you to use and Sony staff will be on hand to answer questions about your photography and help you create great dance images.  Since Sony is sponsoring this workshop only Sony brand cameras can be used. If you don't have a Sony camera to use, let me know and I'll arrange one for you.

I've been told we'll also have the new SAL70200f28G II which is the new[masked] f2.8. This lens is just released.

Attendance and "No Shows". If you can't make the event please cancel 24 hours before the start of the event. If you fail to cancel you'll be recorded as a "No Show" and if this continues, you'll be dropped from future events.

That was a lot of awesomeness packed into one evening! Everyone was so welcoming and friendly, the dancers were so nice and accommodating, and the gear was top notch (I now want everything, ugh!). In the end I did like the A7 series camera and lenses best and will be moving in that direction. This was very helpful and rewarding event, thanks Sony!

Hey boys and girls, once again, very well organized. Rob started off with an introduction as to how the night would proceed, and then we were off. three stations were set up with strobes and triggers for the dancers, so there wasn't much waiting. Two tables of cameras and lenses were available to try, just sign them in and out. A lot of fun, learning and experimenting was had by all. I think I'm narrowing my decision on a new camera body. Thanks again to everyone involved.

A spot just opened up, so I'm in! What would be the chance I could try an A99? I'll bring my A57 anyways.

This event is planned for tomorrow and should be a lot of fun. The directions are on the meetup page. It's the back door of the Sony office, just off the 404. Someone will be there to take you up to the studio. It's hard to get in if you're late though. Please bring your own Sony camera, memory and batteries. I'll have a selection of Zeiss lenses for you to try in the A-mount and E-mount including lenses for the new full-frame camera. You don't need a tripod, or even a lens for that matter. Although it's kinda late at this point if you need a camera body to use, please let me know. I'll have a couple there but a few people have requested them.

If you can't make it please cancel before 5pm today. This allows others on the waitinglist a chance to sign up and make plans. If you cancel after 5pm today you'll be considered a "No Show" and will have limited success getting into future workshops.

I won't be checking the meetup after 5pm today so it's unlikely I'll be able to answer questions after 5pm.... so ask early in the comment area if you have a question.

I'm going from Kipling Station at 5pm. It will take me 2 hours by transit unless I can get a ride from a friendly person from any subway station. Is anyone able to offer a ride? Text me where and when to meet at[masked] - thanks!

Hi Rob, I'll bring along my NEX5R for fun, but my real interest going forward is the A7 series cameras and FE lenses. Could you have those available for me to try out? I would also be interested is testing the RX-10, as the Zeiss lens on it has received a lot of praise. I'm looking to add it as a all-in-one stills/video solution as well, if the results are good. :-) Thanks!

I'll see it I can get the RX10. It's not a camera I have all the time.
