Jeff Tweedy once said that the greatest feeling comes from creating something that wasn't there 10 minutes ago.
If you agree with this statement and like to write, come join us every 2nd Saturday of the month from 1-3PM at the Harold Washington Library to push ourselves to create something new. We're up on the 5th floor next to the escalators.
But! This writers group will be much different than just a "meet up and write about whatever" group. Instead, it's part scavenger hunt, part mystery and part creativity.
The plan: At the HW Library, each writer will search throughout the heaps of shelves to find a text of some sort. Just one that calls out to them for whatever reason. Once found, they will bring it back to the group and swap texts with another writer. Each writer will then create a piece of writing based on their text--be it on plumbing, ornithology or Kate Perry. You're the creator. The text is your unpredictable starting point. We'll then share out (if so desired) and give copious high-5's and chest bumps, etc.
I'm by no means a professional writer, just somebody who wants to create something new and give myself and others a fun way to do so. Come join!
Bring a pen and paper if you'd like or some will be provided.
