This event is based on the understanding that we all bring insight, experience and humour to a subject that is both universal and ever-evolving. All that is asked is that you contribute, listen and be open to new possibilities as we explore our knowledge and awareness around attracting the Right Partner for YOU. *Also be prepared to laugh out loud as one guiding principle for this event is that we do not take ourselves too seriously, for if the journey is not fun then really why go on it? **Singles and Couples are welcome. A technique designed to maximize the exchange of experiences, feelings and ideas from all members. This occurs by honoring a few basic principles and utilizes smaller break out rooms. Hello Soul City, Quite simply a brilliant film presentation by Peter Russell on the fascinating subject of Consciousness. Some of you came out about 6 weeks ago to see a short film on him, this is the full length presentation and definitely a great one too see. Sincerely, Steve PETER RUSSELL (The Primacy of Consciousness) Russell, a prominent thinker in the fields of consciousness and science, asserts that science cannot explain the fact that humans are conscious. This capacity for inner experience he calls "the great mystery." According to Russell, who studied mathematics and theoretical physics before he delved into experimental psychology, science is locked into the view that consciousness itself is somehow created by the human brain. He believes that we need to question this basic assumption and consider instead that awareness is present to some degree in all living things. The difference with humans is that we are aware that we aware. But what is it that is aware? In bustling downtown Los Angeles, Peter explores the perennial question of "Who am I?" He looks at how we seek fame and fashion, power and position, in our search for inner fulfillment. But in the final analysis, peace of mind is to be found within our selves rather than in what we have or do. In the closing, he observes that Western science has proved very successful in explaining the world and advancing technology, but has not provided us with meaning or values. He calls for integration of scientific understanding with the wisdom of spiritual traditions. "The next great frontier is not outer space," Russell concludes, "it’s inner space."
