Message from Soundcloud:

Join us on a creation journey around the world. Get creative with like-minded users in your city to record, create and produce locally and share globally with your community and beyond.

Select a venue that enables collaboration to create sounds as a group. Just make sure that there’s access to the web so you can create and share from there.

Promote your meetup on Facebook and Twitter and invite your friends to join. We will help you promote your meetup through our channels and will also send you a meetup kit including stickers, SoundCloud name badges and a tshirt!

Currently, the idea is to host a networking event at Stereo from 8PM. Drink will be flowing, and hopefully we'll have created a playlist featuring some of Glasgow's best musical talent via SoundCloud:

http://soundcloud.com/

Glasgow based SoundCloud users (solo artists, bands, producers, labels) should submit their best work for showcasing to the following SoundCloud group:

http://soundcloud.com/groups/soundcloud-meetup-glasgow-20...

Simply hit the "Share a Track" button at the top of the group page. Ensure your track is DOWNLOAD ENABLED, as we won't be able to rely on live streaming from SoundCloud for the event.

This will enable us to create a playlist for the evening. Artists on the playlist will be notified prior to the event, as we might not have enough time to play all submitted tracks. Please ensure that you provide links to biographies, and reliable contact information in your track descriptions. We'll be displaying your details on a large projector screen for all to see, so make sure the info we display is up-to-date.

Stereo is a licensed venue, so attendees must be over the age of 18. That's the basics of the event as it stands. This event will evolve and develop over the next few weeks, so stay tuned in to keep updated.

There's also a Facebook page:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Soundcloud-Meetup-Glasgow-2...

Go and invite any musicians, bands, friends, family, whoever you think will enjoy a drink and some fresh new music. This event will be a success through our combined efforts alone.

Keep posting your ideas, and your music!

Just back in from the meetup - absolutely awesome to hear so much good music, talented folk and quality speakers. My only gripe was that I was the guy making folks names appear on screens so didn't get a chance to get in aboot it and chat with many folks. So, with that in mind, anyone who wants to hit me up on soundcloud or facebook for some music chat and collaboration should feel more than free. Feel positively welcomed.

Hey guys, turns out I've got an 8 year old to look after for a few days so it doesn't look like I'm going to make it out to catch either of the meetings tonight. Have a great time one & all & keep me posted on how it all goes? I'll definitely make the next one!!
    Awra best! - Kenny

As far as the session goes in the SMC, City Halls, Candleriggs it will be loosely organised Laptop jam that we can join in and record the entire jam from the line out of the mixer into another laptop - this track / mashup will be played through the PA in stereo later in the evening. All you need to bring is your laptop / other equipment and a means to plug it in to a mixer (mono channel). Any questions contact [masked]

I also work with Alasdair in the Scottish Music Centre in the candleriggs. We've just had a chat and discussed the idea of a sort of laptop jam in our library space which we could take a live recording of to use for the evening in stereo. The early evening event here could be called MONO_STEREO and It would involve a PA setup in the centre of a large circle which we would all sit sound and plug in our 'various devices' and / or laptops and we can join in as we wish. Thoughts?

HahAAA! Nice one! Stuart's definitely a good guy to have on board! The Tronic events really helped me to cut my teeth over the years.

Sent an official Soundcloud email from Niklas over to Kirsty, Liam (Little Rock on Radiomagnetic), Andy (station manager at Radiomagnetic) and to the info@ address at the Scottish Music Centre.

I'm moving home this weekend, so I won't be on hand until Monday/Tuesday. Keep pushing, blogging and shouting. Tag tweets with #scmeetup.

      Speak soon! ;)

Great stuff... I see that this is taking shape.

Do you have facilities to record this event? I know Kirsty's organising somebody to film both events too.

We've got support from Jim Gellatly, although he's out of the country on the 9th February! He's going to be shouting about the event at any available opportunity. So that's good.

the part that says "Please ensure that you provide links to biographies, and reliable contact information in your track descriptions." does that mean details such as web site addresses? email or what?

The full package! Anything and everything that you think is important.

Web addresses, email addresses, bio, images, logos, contact numbers etc. Whatever you want displayed on a large hadron collider... sorry, screen... for all to see.

    Howdy chaps!

Let's get this show on the road then... Who has ideas for a venue? I was thinking of asking my friend Martin if he could sort us out with the XScape SNOzone bar for the evening? They have a PA system and small stage, and the venue ain't too big. Plus there's skiing and snowboarding there too, so there will be plenty of ice to break... Fnarrrr!

Nice one Kenny! We've definitely got the time and space between us all. I think it's important to create something new for the event. Once we hear from Alasdair about the additional venue then we can start planning for that.

Sweeet as guys. Yeah, there's a pa in stereo and last time I put something on there they had engineers who were right on it. As for the collaboration kind of thing, I'm always up for that kind of capering. And it would be great to get it filmed in some sort of way for podcasting.
