This group is for those who love to draw, doodle, illustrate or generally be creative! There is no level of drawing expertise that you specifically need to have to participate. Stick figures are most welcome, and in fact, can be quite hilarious and awesome!
Its challenging to find time to do art when you are busy living life, and if you love art and wish you did more then these meetups will be a solution for you. There will be time for free drawing at each meetup, but mostly there are themes for each event that will aide in you having fun with your art and present a creative challenge too.
Though I won't be teaching drawing at these meetup's, I will offer any advice I can lend from my own journey with drawing. I will always bring some limited supplies and some art reference books for use. This meetup is mostly a sketching in person, vs. using technology, but you are welcome to bring your wacom and laptop if that's what works for you. Most venues will have plugs we can use.
For me, I've been drawing all my life, and have had some small things published. I am very interested in children's book illustration, though all art inspires me. For the last 5 years I've worked for a large video game company and worked closely with many fine artists. I'm currently invested in my Etsy store where I sell little monster sculptures (you can look me up under the name HappyMoonBelly).
Long term goals for this group is just offer support and ways to get out of creative ruts and keep pushing forward with all our creative endeavors. I hope to tie in some local industry events and artists in the future, for those that are curious about developing your professional portfolio's further.
Upcoming Art meetups will be:
> illustrating your own greeting cards (for portfolio or holiday presents)
> creating your own coloring book
> making a zine
> illustrating your own yearly calendar
> theory crafting about color pencil techniques, ink techniques, pencil shading
