Juggling class and Club/Poi Spinning class

Join South Bay Circus Arts on Thursdays at the Starting Arts studios in Santa Clara for the following classes:

Juggling with Cosmo and Soo from 7:30 to 8:30 -- Move beyond the basic three ball juggle to a world of passing, clubs, and theatricality. With over 40 years in the entertainment industry and almost as many areas of expertise, Cosmo is the perfect person to shed new light on this most quintessential of circus arts.
Beginners are welcome. More experienced jugglers will have the opportunity to work on performance tricks or other areas of interest.

Club/poi spinning from 8:30 to 9:30 -- This course will equip you with a solid foundation in your club- and poi-spinning practice. Students will develop a vocabulary and system of thinking about movement that will enable and empower them to become their own teachers. We will begin by exploring arm paths and footwork, basic principles of timing and direction, plane-taming and discovery of places to spin circles, and we'll employ these skills to investigate negative space, and to create basic shapes, flowers, weaves, and fountains. When we learn patterns, the poi will teach us about momentum and gravity, and the clubs will allow us to think at our own pace about where we are relative to the prop, and how the prop is oriented in space. Alternation between theory and play will help us find fluidity in our movement and flow in our practice. It'll be fun. There will be good music. You'll want to bring a notebook and a pencil.

Classes are currently offered on a drop-in basis. You can pre-pay/pre-register online (follow the link or go to the SBCA website, southbaycircus.com). 10-card class cards are also available for purchase.

Please let us know if you would be interested in a series class instead as if there is sufficient interest, we may add or convert these classes.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
