We will meet at Epicenter Cycling area in Aptos at 10:30 AM and take the Shuttle bus toward the top of  Demo. With just a few miles of fireroad to ride you will be ready for your 15 miles of descent through the redwoods in the Forest of Nisene Marks . This will bring you back to Aptos Village just south of the city of Santa Cruz to end at Epicenter Cycling and the Santa Cruz Mountain Bike Fesitval.

Shuttle tires roll as soon as the bikes are loaded at 11AM. Arrive early to find parking!

I do not plan to ride Demo, however you may and then loop back around to ride down the Nisene Marks fire road.

This is almost all downhill... Let's Ride and then do the Fesitval.

Thanks for setting up the ride Ray and Michelle, I had a blast (as usual) with the group. Wish we could have made it back in time to see everyone else...and drink a beer or two. BTW, thanks for apparently drinking ALL of the beer...they were totally out by the time we got back ;)

    1 · April 15, 2013

    • Michelle

Ha! Sorry about that Mike! They were getting pretty low when we got there around 3. I guess we finished them off. ;-)

What a awesome day out there Sunday. Thanks Ray for organizing it. Thanks Nancy for taking us on a fun short demo route. Had the pleasure of riding with a good group of riders. Overall a great 26 miles of excitement!!!

One of the best rides I've done! I wouldn't qualify it as "short" or "slow" though:)))); well worth it. Thank you Ray for organizing and Nancy for leading our group

Great day, great company, great ride. Thank you, Nancy, for leading the "short" demo ride. It was proof yet again that "short" is a very relative term...Thank you, Ray, for getting us organized.

    Great!!

    April 15, 2013

  • Ray G

Very large group to take on the trails and cruise back to Aptos. I hope you all had a great time as we broke off into a few smaller groups. Thanks for making South Bay Mountain Bike Group the talk of the festival with all of us on the shuttles.

    April 15, 2013

  • Nancy

Thanks to all who joined me and Carine on our "slower shorter" loop through Demo ... did anyone get the mileage? 26? 27? And thanks to Mile L.'s group for guiding us down Bacon ... what a great ride! SBMBG riders are the best!

Thanks Nancy for leading the "short demo" route. We did 26 miles for the route. Also, thanks Ray and Michelle for arranging the event and shuttle. It was tiring but fun day.

  • Mike J

Great ride and as always, thanks Ray! I know this ride required a lot of extra planning. Setting up the shuttles and getting everyone registered was no small task. It would have never of happened without all of the work you put in. Thanks again!

Awesome day on the bike. Big shout-out to Shuttlesmith Dave, Bike Dojo, and all the other shuttles for getting our big group to the top. Our group had a fun ride with some interesting side dishes. Hope all who rode Demo made it back in one piece. Beautiful day to ride!! And also, thanks to MBoSC for putting on a kickass festival! Those guys and gals were pretty much working their butts off every time I saw them. Nice to see Mark with a well-deserved PBR as things were winding down. :-)

Anybody looking at selling an extra shuttle pass?

    April 11, 2013

  • Nancy

I would like to do a loop through Demo, at my own somewhat slow pace ... but would love company!

    February 24, 2013

    • Mike J

Nancy, Following up on our conversation yesterday here are some statistics for Demo. Sawpit is 15 miles with a 2,750 ft climb. Braille is 13 miles with a 2,350 ft climb. Nisene Marks is an addition 15 miles of downhill. I'm not sure but there is at least an additional mile or two due to the location of the shuttle drop-off. Let's Ride!

      April 11, 2013

    • Ray G

The last time we did the group shuttle Demo drop, sawpit, fireroad back down it was 29 miles. Have fun.

Please note that there is NO VEHICLE PARKING this year for SC MTB festival attendees in Aptos village. The festival recommends parking at Seacliff State Beach (the day use fee to park there is $10, or use your state park annual pass) and riding your bike into the festival. After the shuttle ride, you can valet park your bike for free at the festival. You can also try to park in the surrounding neighborhoods, but please be courteous to residents and businesses and pay attention to parking regulations, no parking signs, etc.

Just got a notice saying that my status has changed to "Not going," yet I paid last week. Can someone help clear this up?

    April 8, 2013

    • Ray G

Sure Ron, I can help you with that. As of 4/3/2013 you were not on the paid list and I did email everyone to remind them. I did not get a reply from a few members so I took them off our list. I will add you back on and see you on the shuttle.

      April 8, 2013

  • Ray G

Last call for everyone to sign up and PAY for the shuttle ride. You will need the code when you sign up. Send me an email first and I will send it to you. Let's Ride!

    April 8, 2013

  • Ray G

FYI, Santa Cruz Mountain Bike Festival is coming up soon April13/14, and they need more volunteers. If you would like to help out another great club, please contact them soon at http://www.santacruzmountainbikefestival.com/

    April 2, 2013

    March 28, 2013

  • kate

hey Ray, I missed getting the code. I paid and i did get a confirmation from Active. is that enough to shuttle ?

    March 26, 2013

  • Jorge C.

Hi Ray, I just RSVP'ed. Can you send me the code to register?

    March 25, 2013

  • Ray G

Just a reminder, you must reserve and pay for your shuttle spot. There are only a few spots left if anyone else wants to go.

    March 24, 2013

  • Lex J.

    Hi Ray,
    Sorry, I missed the deadline.
Can you send me a code for the April 14, 10.30 AM shuttle?
    Thanks
    Lex

    March 15, 2013

    March 15, 2013

    March 15, 2013

  • Ray G

I have sent everyone on the list the CODE to get on the group shuttle. If you sign up after[masked], you will need to request the code to reserve your spot. Just let me know.

    March 15, 2013

  • Ray G

Get on the list and I will email you the "code" to get on our shuttle. Let's Ride!

    March 14, 2013

  • Ray G

Ok, I think we broke the shuttle RSVP system. We went to the MBoSC monthly meeting last night and they did not expect such a large number for any one shuttle. They said we are just too organized. The system will be fixed in the next few days with a special code that I will send everyone on the RSVP list so you can make sure to get on the Sunday 11 AM shuttle. Hang tight until I send out the code.

    1 · March 12, 2013

  • Ray G

Seriously people... did you not read what I just posted yesterday?
"The system will be fixed in the next few days with a special code that I will send everyone on the RSVP list so you can make sure to get on the Sunday 11 AM shuttle. Hang tight until I send out the code."
Maybe you should spend some of your time getting on the trail work list this Saturday... that might get you on the shuttle list sooner, just saying.

i joined the 11 am shuttle. Anyone want to carpool from SF?

    March 12, 2013

  • Jeffrey L.

Urgh. 11.00 shuttle ride is sold out.

    March 11, 2013

    • KAo

@Ray, so I went to "Shuttlesmith" website and noticed that the only way to reserve or pay for a spot was to to email "Dave" or call the number which I will do in the am. As for the "list" I see that I'm RSVP as going. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks.

      March 12, 2013

    • KAo

Btw. I emailed Dave @shuttle smith adventures as how to pay for the shuttle ride.

      March 12, 2013

  • Raul G.

I am just wondering why waiting list and why a limit of riders, please explain me.

    March 11, 2013

  • Ray G

Ok everyone, I just raised the RSVP limit. If you are a YES RSVP, you still need to log into the shuttle site and pay your $25 online. A YES RSVP here is for our info only and does not get you shuttle spot. Your payment receipt is the only thing to get you a seat. Remember, it's the 11 AM Sunday time. http://www.santacruzmountainbikefestival.com/

    March 11, 2013

    • Ryan R.

If the 11am option is sold out, should we RSVP no?

      March 11, 2013

    • Ray G

I have talked with Shuttle Dave and the online RSVP rider number will be increased soon.

      March 11, 2013

unfortunatly something has come up and I will not be able to attend this ride :(

I'm not the expert, Ray, but I would have said baseball has as much to do with mountain biking as beer does!

    February 24, 2013

    • Ray G

It is as posted, shuttle up and 14 miles of the fireroad down through the redwoods. It may not be for everyone, but it is all downhill from there.
