NEW SHUTTLE TIME!!!
Shuttle leaves at 8:00 AM.
I will reserve the shuttle for 14 spots under South Bay Mountain Bike Group as the time gets closer.
The RSVP list will open April 1st at 10 AM. I am sure there will be a wait list, so get on it now!
This is an intermediate + level 3.5 group ride in an awesome wooded single-track paradise.
Shuttle to Packers Saddle ~ Pauley Creek~ Big Boulder ~ Downtown
As organizer, I will reserve the right to change your RSVP should I feel you're not ready for this ride location or you have been a no show on past rides. RSVP priority will be given to current members in good standing.
This will be another EPIC ride weekend for our group to go the next step for some awesome mountain bike rides. Here are a few links for all the info you need for booking your weekend there, http://www.yubaexpeditions.com/pages/downievilleaccommodations.html - www.downievilleoutfitters.com/ - www.yubaexpeditions.com/ - http://www.sierracountychamber.com/ - http://www.herringtonssierrapines.com/
I plan to leave Friday afternoon to beat the traffic out of the bay area. I am going to stay in downtown Downieville this trip. If you plan ahead now, you may want to get a room so you will not have to drive at all once you are there.
This will be the official hotel for the weekend ~ http://www.downievillecarriagehouse.com/
We will plan to get two different rides in Saturday morning and one in the late afternoon.
We will take the shuttle that leaves from Yuba Expeditions or Downieville Outfitters for this ride. Let them know your going to the drop off point at Packer Saddle. They say the record is 38 minutes for the Downhill Run, most riders do it in 2-4 hours. However, I may take a little longer by taking pictures and just enjoying the trails and views. The trail begins at 7100 feet elevation and ends at 2800 feet over the course of 14 miles. I have been told by the crew at Downieville Outfitters that there are some very technical areas, however they said it is not so technical that you can't walk your bike past.
Remember: you must plan ahead, and reserve your shuttle spot and find a place to stay, rooms fill up fast!
The sites above have lots of info on the trails, where to stay, places to eat, even camping areas. With this said, who wants to do DOWNIEVILLE?
If you want to head up and do a different trail/trails, have at it. Just sign up and we can discuss the choices. Of course, the first pitcher is on me after the day is done.
Remember, all riders need to be members of Meetup.com & South Bay Mountain Bike Group. Guests are no longer allowed. All riders need to RSVP as a member.
***Please remember, a helmet is required for all our rides.***
