This is a great way to start the weekend. This will be my once a month early Friday ride at DLV, which I started last month. Come on out!

Remember ~ RSVPing "YES" for a ride, and not showing will get you moved to the wait list on the next ride you do wish to go on. Please be courteous and drop out early enough to give the more reliable riders a chance to adjust their schedules and attend.

An optional gathering at a nearby pizza place for rehydration & food will follow after the ride.

This will be a Level 2, advanced beginner ride, about 6-8 miles.

De Laveaga Park is a small Santa Cruz city park with something on the order of 10 miles of singletrack open to biking. Considering the fact that all of this trail network is pretty much limited to a single hillside, it's a respectable amount actually. Almost all of the trails are singletrack, technical (a couple of them highly), and fun. No one would expect this little park to be a destination for bikers from distant places, but it's an enviable option for short rides for the locals. Still, don't let that stop you from trying out this place, even though you're not a local.

Meet at 4:00 PM in the dirt parking area along the right hand (east) side of Branciforte Drive, outside the park, 0.2 miles north of Goss Avenue.

Directions: from San Jose: Hwy 17 South to Santa Cruz. Exit left towards Ocean Street/Beaches. 17 ends and becomes Ocean Street. Turn left on Water St, then left on Market St., which becomes Branciforte Drive, until you reach your destination.

There are restrooms available inside the park, near the picnic tables and ball fields. We can stop there during our ride if you need to.

Tires roll at 4:10 PM or sooner if all YES RSVP's are present. Please be there by the meet time, we don't want to leave without you!

Ride Details
Difficulty: "Moderate, with some technical trails and mostly single-track. On my scale of 1-5, 1 being easy - I will say this may be a 2-3 in places, but we'll keep the pace mellow so you can walk those short sections if necessary.

Remember, all riders need to be members of Meetup.com & South Bay Mountain Bike Group. Guests are no longer allowed. All riders need to RSVP as a member.

Rain will cancel. Check this listing the morning of the ride. I will post by 8 AM a weather update if we need to cancel.

***Please remember, a helmet is required for all our rides.***

My first ride in DLV so everything was new. Being new to single track I was a little slow and cautious but I enjoyed myself and plan to do this ride again.

Finally DLV ride that was for me doable. My previous experiences were not like that.

Great after work ride and start to the weekend. We were the only riders there and it was nice and cool in the trees.

Sorry that I can't join you. My back is still a wreck. Keeping my fingers crossed that it'll be better for Tahoe.

Bummer. Something came up and I cannot make it. Will the next Friday DLV ride be on June 28? If so, I'm putting that on my calendar now! See you on Saturday at the Pogonip.

I would like to make it. Getting to Santa Cruz by 4pm may be doable as I am usually "working from home " on Friday. My bike should be fixed by Friday.

Ooh this sounds fun and the right level for me. My (very first) mtn bike is on order - if I get it before this date, i'll surely join if there are spots still open!

ALTERNATIVE DIRECTIONS from San Jose: Hwy 17 South to Scotts Valley. Exit at Mt Hermon Road, then turn right on Glen Canyon Road. From there it's about 8 minutes to Branciforte - watch your speed here. Glen Canyon tees into Branciforte. Turn right on Branciforte, go through the road washout stoplight, and immediately turn left (east) into the dirt parking area. This way avoids beach/Ocean St. traffic - highly recommended on a Friday afternoon.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
