Meet at the roadside parking area on Highland Way by the yellow gate at 10:30 AM. You will know this is the correct area by the large amount of cars parked with bike racks.

This will be a  ~ Strong Intermediate Level 3 ~ group ride.

RSVPing YES for a ride and not showing will get you moved to the wait list on the next ride you do wish to go on. Please be courteous and drop out early enough to give the more reliable riders a chance to adjust their schedules and attend.

Tires roll at 10:40 AM or sooner if all YES RSVP's are present. Please be there by the meet time, we will leave without you!

Remember, all riders need to be members of Meetup.com & South Bay Mountain Bike Group. Guest are no longer allowed. All riders need to RSVP as a member.

Distance: 14 miles?

Riding time: 3ish hours?

Difficulty rating: Difficult , steady climbs, technically advanced singletrack with plenty of obstacles.

Trail surface: 53 percent dirt road, 34 percent singletrack, and 13 percent paved road.

Terrain: Smooth dirt road through mixed woodlands to the ridge, cool view, singletrack along ragged ridge, steep desent through lush redwoods.

The climbs are moderate but long. The descents are generally considered intermediate/advanced. However as long as you work those brakes you'll be safe.

The plan is to do the Loop. Bring plenty of water, as well as food, because there is none in the park.

Directions:
Take 17 South toward Santa Cruz. Near the top of 17 take the exit for Summit Road and do a sharp turn to head southeast (you will cross over the highway). Follow Summit Road as it turns into Highland Way in about 5 miles from the freeway exit. Continue down Highland about 5 more miles (about 10 miles from the highway 17 exit) you see a bridge on the right and the signed entrance to the park. A small sign! There is parking on Highland or cross the bridge into the main dirt parking area.

If your not sure where you are going or think you will be late, please leave earlier. It is not fair to have everyone else wait while you get ready to ride. Bring a spare tube and master link?

As organizer, I will reserve the right to change your RSVP should I feel you're not ready for this ride location or you have been a no show on past rides. RSVP priority will be given to current members in good standing.

***Please remember, a helmet is required for all our rides.***

Safety warning: There have been reports of car break-ins at Demo Forest. On the weekends, it's less likely to occur due to the higher volume of people at the park. However, it's still a good idea to remove valuable stuff from your car prior to going.

We usually cover two of the four major demo loops. There is a lot of climbing. If you have a full suspension trail or AM bike, that would be ideal.

I'm a little banged up, so I will be riding Demo very conservatively this weekend.

So, does that mean you're only doing 3 loops or just 2?

Hi Anthony. If you are a fairly strong rider (that is, comfortable with steep and/or long climbs, and can deal with rough terrain and small jumps and drops), then you are ready for Demo. If not, I will soon organize a Demo for beginners ride where we will do a short loop with some instruction on how to safely handle the kinds of conditions that are presented at demo.

Thanks for the info. I'm relatively sure I'll be ok.
