Lights are required!!!
Parking: The parking lot entrance can close as early as 6:00 pm although this is rare. There is street parking but it isn't as convenient. I suggest arriving early to be safe. Parking lot exit stays open until 10:00 pm.
Tires Roll at 6:30
Distance: 6 miles total (4 miles up, 2 miles down)
Elevation Gain: 1,400 ft (long extended climbs)
Duration: Approximately 1-1/2 hr
Terrain: Fire Road Pace: Not fast but steady. Will regroup often (don't want anyone getting lost in the dark!)
Required Equipment: Bike Light(s), Helmet, Layered Clothing Four Legged Friends Welcome: Well behaved/social dogs are welcome to join this ride. It is highly recommended that your dog obeys the command "leave it" due to occasional encounters with cows, skunks and on rare occasions, coyotes.
Weather: Rain 24-48 hours prior to ride will most likely be reason to cancel. Soft clay soil can be nasty when wet. But then this is California, when does it ever rain!
Please remember to wear a helmet, bring water, and check that your bike is ready to ride. Also remember to carry an extra tube and a chain master link with you that fits your bike. Its ok if you need help to repair it, you will have the items needed to keep your ride going.
Remember, all riders need to be members of Meetup.com & South Bay Mountain Bike Group. Guest are no longer allowed. All riders need to RSVP as a member.
