Full Buck Moon Ride @ Fremont Older

Full Buck Moon. This lunar moniker stems from the fact that this season is typically when the new antlers of buck deer push out from their foreheads in coatings of velvety fur. It was also often called the Full Thunder Moon, thunderstorms being now most frequent. Sometimes it's also called the Full Hay Moon.

This is always a great weekend ride!

An optional gathering at a nearby place for rehydration will follow the ride.

Meet at the Fremont Older Preserve parking lot on Prospect Road in Cupertino by the information sign. Arrive early as the parking lot does fill up This will be about a 1.5 - 2 hour/8ish mile mellow ride. Hope everyone will join me for a fun ride. Bring water and be sure your bike is ready to ride.

Sunset is at 8:33 PM and Moonrise is at 8:38 PM.

Tires roll at 6:14ish or sooner if all YES RSVP's are present.

This is a great place for a fun evening workout.

RSVPing YES for a ride and not showing is not cool. Changing your RSVP after they close will not give another member a chance to get on the list and is the same as a no show. Please be courteous and drop out early enough to give the more reliable riders a chance to adjust their schedules and attend.

Ride Details:

Difficulty as noted in my Mtn Biking guide book is: "Easy to moderate, with smooth wide trails for beginners and a few short single-tracks. On my scale of 1-5, 1 being easy - this may be a Level 2 ride.

Remember, all riders need to be members of Meetup.com & South Bay Mountain Bike Group. Guest are no longer allowed. All riders need to RSVP as a member.

Exit Highway 85 at De Anza Boulevard. (From northbound Hwy. 85 turn left on De Anza Blvd. and from southbound Hwy. 85 turn right on De Anza Blvd.) Travel west on De Anza Blvd. (toward the mountains) for about 0.5 miles. Turn right on Prospect Rd. Then at the first stop sign, turn left and cross the railroad tracks to remain on Prospect Rd. Follow Prospect Road uphill for 1.3 miles, turning left after the Saratoga Country Club, until you reach the preserve parking lot.

Rain will cancel. I will post an update here by 9 AM the day of the ride.
