Let's Ride!

For those that need to get out on your bike, come on out and enjoy a great place on the coast with awesome views! Bring water and a snack as there will be a chance to take a break to enjoy your ride.

Meet at 10:30 AM in the main parking lot. There are restrooms available. We will then ride to the tunnel under Highway 1. If you park in the Wilder Ranch parking lot, there is a fee to park.

I recommend to pay the parking fee in support of & our use of the state parks.

Tires roll at 10:46 AM or sooner if all YES RSVP's are present. Please be there by the meet time, we don't want to leave without you.

An optional gathering at a local place for rehydration & food will follow after the ride.

Ride Details
Difficulty: "Easy to moderate, with smooth wide trails for beginners and a few single-tracks. On my scale of 1-5, 1 being easy - I will say this ride may be a 2-3.

Where: Wilder Ranch State Park, Hwy 1, just north of Santa Cruz.

Remember, all riders need to be members of Meetup.com & South Bay Mountain Bike Group. Guest are no longer allowed. All riders need to RSVP as a member.

Rain will cancel. Check this listing the morning of the ride. I will post by 8 AM a weather update if we need to cancel.

***Please remember, a helmet is required for all our rides.***

Thanks for leading & the very helpful bike handling tips. I appreciate the guidance for getting across the river on my bike and not in the water!

If you park on Highway 1, be sure and hide anything valuable in the glovebox or under the seat. Break-ins are common there, even during the day.

I spent the entire week moving my company's offices so I'm planning to take a mellow route - a little climbing, a little single track, and flat coastal bluffs at the end (bring your camera!). Perfect for the beginners in the group, or anyone who just wants to chill and enjoy the views. Let's ride!

This will be another record setting ride with South Bay Mountain Bike Group, it sure looks like the word is out about how much fun we have. Yes, we can and do have successful multi level rides with all skill levels. It just takes a little planning and consideration for everyone that wants to ride. I look forward to seeing you all this weekend. Let's Ride!

I've never been to Wilder Ranch. What's the planned mileage and elevation gain of the ride?

    March 1, 2013

  • Chris

Looking forward to meeting you all. Just curious about the group culture, regarding riding clothing; I am part of a team, and ride in a kit. Is that cool, or should I wear baggies and a non-team/racing shirt? Don't want to look like a race dork!

    February 21, 2013

    • Ray G

Baggies is the way to go, we are not racers, just out for the fun.
