Saratoga Gap & Return @ Grizzly Flat Parking Area

  • Jan 27, 2013 · 11:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Let's Ride!

We will meet at 11:00 AM in the Grizzly Flat parking lot on Skyline Blvd.

Tires roll at 11:15 AM or sooner if all YES RSVP's are present.

Please be there by the meet time, we don't want to leave without you!

There are no restrooms here. Skyline OSP is about 3 miles north and has restrooms.

We will ride south to Saratoga Gap through Long Ridge Open Space Preserve which will take us on Peters Creek and Long Ridge Trails.

This is a great area to ride!!!

Page Mill Road to Skyline Blvd. Then turn left and drive 3.3 miles on Skyline, the parking lot is on the left & right sides of the road. The drive up Page Mill will take about 25-30 min from the 280/Page Mill area.

From South Bay area: Saratoga Blvd through Saratoga, it becomes Highway 9 uphill toward Skyline Blvd. At the stop sign at Skyline Blvd, turn right and the parking lot area is in about 3 miles on both sides of the road, immediately after the Palo Alto city limit sign.

If you're coming from Santa Cruz up Highway 9, turn left onto Skyline/Highway 35. The parking lot area is in about 3 miles on both sides of the road, immediately after the Palo Alto city limit sign.

You have read the past ride reviews and seen the pictures, this is a fun group!!! As always, we will never leave anyone behind, take needed breaks, and regroup often. Plan to ride for 2 to 2 1/2 hours.

If your not sure where you are going or think you will be late, please leave earlier. We want you to join us for this ride.

Ride Details:

Ray's Difficulty Level: "Moderate with a few modest climbs". On my scale of 1 -5, 1 being easy - I will say this may be a 2 - 3 level.

Remember, all riders need to be members of & South Bay Mountain Bike Group. Guest are no longer allowed. All riders need to RSVP as a member.

I will post by 8 AM a weather update if we need to cancel this ride.

Release of Liability:

rocks, roots and earth- a challange for me on steep declines as my bike is deflected in directions not intended(down the slope). On a positive note the route was well laid out and I found the climbs doable.

How do we know what order we are in the waitlist?

I'm going to keep the limit fairly low on this ride, so if you are a Yes for this ride but you're on the fence or not really planning to attend, then please update your RSVP to allow folks on the waiting list the opportunity to ride. Thanks for doing your part to make South Bay Mountain Bike Group an awesome group to ride with. Let's ride!

Anyone wants to switch? I am attending the other meetup at the same time location, but would rather do this one instead.

Hi Els. This ride was set up as an alternative to the more strenuous Table Mountain ride. Based on who has already RSVPed Yes for this ride (myself included) the pace on this ride may be too slow for you. As such, if you're looking to save time by doing a shorter distance ride, that may not work out very well.
