Stroll on Stevens Creek Trail, Mt. View, Saturday, January 4, 1 PM

If your new year's resolutions include exercising and getting out more, join us at this well-paced but flat and easy stroll on the scenic Stevens Creek Trail this Saturday, January 4 at 1 PM.

Well meet at Clocktower Coffee on Middlefield Rd, Mt. View, and walk towards Shoreline first.  If enough participants are interested, we'll walk to the downtown Mt. View instead and walk around the streets a little.

** RSVP only if you want to join us.  RSVP is unnecessary if you can't make it.

Stevens Creek Trail is currently open from Shoreline at Mountain View to Dale/Heatherstone. The approximately 5 mile section of paved all weather pathway contains 6 undercrossings, 6 pedestrian bridges, a major 1/4 mile overcrossing structure that spans Central Expressway, Evelyn Avenue, light rail and the Caltrain tracks, a 350 foot pedestrian/bicycle overpass spanning Highway 237 and the new overcrossing over Highway 85 from Sleeper Ave. to Dale/Heatherstone. The trail provides users multiple experiences through woodlands, tidal marshes and city neighborhood parks. In addition to bringing a unique creekside experience to urban residents and workers, the trail's easy connections to major bus routes, Cal Train and light rail make it ideal for connecting to the city's North Bayshore businesses. The trail is open from dawn to dusk. Dogs are allowed on leash from Sleeper Avenue north to the Crittenden Trailhead which is an entrance to Shoreline at Mountain View. Dogs are not allowed in Shoreline at Mountain View. Parking is available at the Crittenden Lane, La Avenida, Whisman, Landels and Yuba Drive Trailheads.

Stevens Creek Trail Etiquette

The Friends of Stevens Creek Trail is a local community group whose goal is to raise community awareness and support for the completion of a trail in the Stevens Creek Corridor.

Founded in December of 1992 to support on-going local government efforts, the Friends was incorporated as a public benefit non-profit corporation in March of 1993. This grassroots community action group is endorsed by the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors and by the Cities of Cupertino, Mountain View, and Los Altos. The Friends Volunteer Action Team organizes community outreach, education programs and trail work days and raises funds for enhancement of the Trail. The Friends also host the Annual Trailblazer Race.

If you liked this walk, you'd like the walk from Downtown Los Gatos to Vasona next Saturday.
Also, a nice walk with a little bit of an elevation gain at Rancho San Antonio next Sunday will be a good exerciser. Hope to see you all next week.

My thanks for arranging this stroll, and for allowing us to select a route.

Walking along a trail in the middle of Mountain View instead of a trail at the edge of a city, made for a nice change. I I have driven on the Central Expressway quite a few times, but I had not seen it from an overcrossing before this walk.
