California Wines at the Vintage Shoppe

This evening we will visit the Vintage Shoppe in Manhattan Beach for tonight’s wine tasting. The wine bar offers a wide variety of the world's finest wines in a comfortable and friendly setting. The Vintage Shoppe features fun and informative daily wine tastings with frequent winemaker dinners on site, collectable, old vintage and hard-to-find wines and a wide variety of small-production, hand-crafted wines from around the world.

The Vintage Shoppe has specifically selected 4 fabulous wines for us to taste & enjoy. We will have a reserved area for our group inside the Vintage Shoppe. The wines for this evening will be
Spelletich Napa Valley Chardonnay - pineapple aromas with nice, fresh bright fruit – pineapple and grapefruit – with excellent acidity. A perfect wine for a light meal or a great sipper with finger foods – Napa, CA
Cass Winery Grenache - This Grenache has an elegant, medium-bodied style. Explosive dried strawberry, candied red cherry, and rhubarb aromatics meet red chili and butterscotch. After a good decant it opens up layers of savory complexity, with more spice and meaty characters. On the palate it is expansive and juicy with flavors that echo the aromatics – dried strawberry, fresh cranberry, licorice, and spice. The tannins firm up slightly on the finish, lending a bit of traction – Paso Robles, CA
Cole Bailey Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon “Sesquipedalian” - This Cabernet Sauvignon is deep garnet in color and is perfumed with aromas of chocolate covered cherries and plums. Underlying hints of vanilla and lavender add to the intrigue of the wine. Upon entry, the wine is soft and creamy with loads of black cherry that fill the mouth. This is a well-structured wine with a vibrancy that carries forth the fruit flavors. Hints of vanilla and coffee beans cap off the long finish to make this wine complete – Redwood Valley, CA
Green & Red Vineyard Zinfandel “Tip Top Vineyard” - This vintage expresses the uppermost mountain vineyard grown at 1700 ft above the Pacific. Dark cherry and raspberry aromas spiced with bay laurel and the surrounding chaparral – St. Helena, CA.

There will be wine crackers, tapenades, breads, cheeses & fruit to accompany the wines.

After, you may want to have dinner at one of the restaurants in the Manhattan Village.

The cost to attend this special wine tasting is $10 that includes the wine tasting and appetizers. You can pay when you arrive.

The Vintage Shoppe is located in the Manhattan Village. There is free parking.
The wine tasting ends at about 8 p.m. Hope to see you there.

As usual, a wonderful event! One exception: the pourings were on the very small side, but that's not Analisa's fault (the meetup/event organizer).

I enjoyed all the wines, even the Chardonnay although I prefer reds. My favorite of the 4 wines was the third wine they poured, which I ended up purchasing. It was a 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon from Mendocino called Sesquipedalian.
