Stu and Alans Windsor & Eton history walk and/or lunch

History is boring right ? The biggest bit of history, concerning Windsor, is its castle. Wrong on both counts, we will talk about the castle of course but this tour takes in a lot of different points of interest as diverse as The Wild Geese, the great railway race, pop bands ranging from the Stones and the Who through to the mighty Splodgenessabounds, 2 strange post boxes, Eton College, famous victorian homosexuals, 4 different ghosts, the origins of Windsor Castle, Charles IIs secret passage, the leaning building of Windsor, Sir Christopher Wrens great hoax, Charles I's death warrant and the beginnings of speed dating. The walk will be at a gentle pace, with frequent stops, totalling about 5 miles and the end of the walk there is the option of a reasonably priced lunch at Wetherspoons and parking in the home park ( recommended ) is free. Alans mobile number is[masked], mine is 07525537973.

Great weather, turnout and people. Everyone enjoyed themselves and I'd like to say a big thank you, to all those who took and shared photos. To the casual visitor to the S.B.S. site. it shows what we're all about. Thanks Alan for co hosting.

Any chance of car (and petrol cost) share from Park and Ride, Cressex, High Wycombe?

    May 22, 2013

    • Donna B.

Yes that would be great thanks! Please let me know where & what time

Perhaps you can email Stephanie since it's her call. If she would like us both to meet her at the Park and Ride at 10.15 a.m. that will be fine by me (originally she was picking me up from home but with more of us that's probably not now convenient). Thanks. Imelda x

Hi Donna, Debra who lives near you picked it up to pass on to you. Sorry but as this was few weeks ago, I thought you'd been in contact with each other. I did e mail you the next day to inform of this. Please e mail Debra through the meetup members/organisers pages.

Hi Imelda, have e mailed you.The walk is circular, so no problem in relocating car. I'd recommend leaving the park & ride at Handy Cross at 10.15 to get there in good time. If anyone is travelling from Wycombe, Imelda and Stephanie may have room for a car share. If anyone has any questions eg travel directions. I'll be glad to help, Stu.

Hi Stu - tried calling but no response so I thought I'd post this message since the question may be of interest to others. Stephanie and I will be travelling together by car to Windsor on Sunday and we were wondering about parking. You mentioned Wetherspoons and parking in the home park for free. Is this a circular walk, i.e. can we park here and finish here? If so, can you provide a postcode so we can pinpoint it on gps etc. If not, what is your recommendation for parking? Many thanks, Stu, and look forward to seeing you on Sunday xxx

Hi, we're always ready to car share at S.B.S. I didn't think of it when putting up the meetup. If anyone wants to car share with Imelda or for that matter myself, I'll be travelling there via Slough from Beaconsfield, feel free to post your comments on the site or get in touch with other attendees.
