  • Les Misérables is the film adaptation of the stage play seen by more than 60 million people around the globe and still breaking box-office records everywhere in its 27th year. Stars Hugh Jackman, Oscar winner Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, Aaron Tveit, Samantha Barks, with Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen.

Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption—a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. Jackman plays ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Crowe) after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s (Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.

Please note that the timing of this event has to be confirmed but as the film is about 2 1/2 hours long, a late afternoon showing is preferable.

    Hi all,
I think that it's best to reschedule this meet up as more snow is forecast for tomorrow. We could meet at the same time next Saturday or opt for a 1.00pm showing on Sunday. That's provided the timings are the same as this week. Any preference????

Yes, the only sensible option. I'm busy on the 26th but could make the sunday.

Good idea Jules. I've had to move my car up into the village as I wouldn't get it down my little hill road otherwise. I'd go for next Saturday as I am working on Sunday.

Hi All. A quick update! There are still plenty of seats available at the cinema for the film but I have checked on the Met weather forecast and the BBC weather forecast and both are indicating snow on Fri/Sat for High Wycombe. I'm really looking forward to seeing the film but not prepared to get my skis out to get there. Be prepared, we might have to reschedule! Watch this space.....

The film is scheduled for 4.00pm. I'm going to go for a coffee in the main bar of the Holiday Inn next door at 3.00pm. Anyone fancy a coffee beforehand?

Hi June, thanks for offering. The film will have been out for a week so there shouldn't be a problem.... I hope! Also if you were to get the tickets and anybody cancels at the last minute the money would probably be lost. I'll look at the online booking system nearer the time...not with the aim of buying the tickets but to see how many seats are available and how busy it might be.
I'll be in touch to confirm timings etc.
    see you next week.

I got the date mixed up when I wrote the post. I thought Les Mis was this weekend but it is the National Gallery this weekend. Must update my diary a bit more often!!

Not sure how popular this film will be so do you want me to go and purchase eight tickets so we can all sit together?
