Rescheduled - "Curse of the Pharoh" - A Murder Mystery Party by Freeform Games

Our early/late Valentine's party....

From the company website:

Curse of the Pharaoh is a dinner party murder mystery game for 6 to 12 guests.

Join us in Egypt, 1894, and determine the fate of the British Empire in a thrilling evening of mystery and murder. You will be in the middle of the action and it will be up to you to wheel and deal with the other guests. Can you achieve your goals, keep your secrets hidden and survive Curse of the Pharaoh? It's up to you....

Just like we our prior games, Bo, Heather, Q, and a few key others will welcome new and old players to enjoy a night of rip-roaring fun as each person tries to reach their goals and discover the murderer.

Food: Dinner will be buffet style. Each guest will be asked to bring a dish. We will discuss this near the time of the party.

Costumes: Most, if not all, will be in costume.

Awards: Usually given to best costume and best player/detective.

Notes:

  • Please be sure that you can attend when accepting. It makes it real hard on the rest of the party when the murderer cancels...
  • We will be taking a waiting list in case we have cancellations (life does happen).
  • If you are on the waiting list, you might be invited anyway. Sometimes there is a last minute cancellation and if not you might enjoy meeting the people and observing some of what is going on ...

Also check out our upcoming page for a list of semi-planned future meetups...

Lastly, donations for buying future murder party games are always welcome... ;)

More info about this party:

Curse of the Pharaoh

The Valley of the Kings, Luxor, Egypt. 23 April 1894. The excavation season will soon be over, as the baking sun makes digging unbearable, but the Oxford University archaeologists lead by Sir William Saville have made a startling discovery. Tonight, the team and their guests prepare to enjoy a slap-up dinner to celebrate the uncovering of the tomb of a previously unknown XVIth Dynasty pharaoh. But while the archaeologists make merry, dark clouds gather, internal tensions among the group burst to the surface and one of the local diggers is brutally murdered.

  • Cindy W.

:( No Allen- No Heather??? Did they change your work schedule Heather? oh nooooooooooo~

    February 11, 2013

    • heather

I'm new so I have to be somewhat flexible still at work. I just don't know how long the Sat work I am picking up will take :( and I didn't see that a date was set until too late :)

      February 12, 2013

  • Bo

I thought this date was good for you all. Did I screw up?

    February 11, 2013

    • Bob F.

It is, but you still have 2014, so it is showing up as Sunday.

      February 11, 2013

    • heather

I go on call Monday the 25th, but have to work on the 23rd now as a favor to a coworker :( I won't know until later if this is an all day/night thing yet :(

      February 12, 2013

  • heather

I have say I am tentative since I am going to be working earlier that day.

    February 11, 2013

  • Chris A.

OK, now I see about the placeholder. The 22nd works for me.

    February 11, 2013

  • Chris A.

According to my calendar, the 23rd is a Saturday, not at Sunday. I'm going to assume it is the 23rd unless I hear otherwise.
Clearly Saturday's snowstorm was oversold by the media, but I think it was the right thing to do to postpone. Yesterday I met somebody who spent 9 hours of Saturday/Sunday driving a snowplow on highways because of the forecast. One can only consider the information one has.

    February 11, 2013

  • Cindy W.

Heather- you are right - it is all over now here too- the streets are even dry.

    February 9, 2013

  • heather

But it's all over now. :)

    February 9, 2013

  • Bo

Don't know if it will last, but snow has started in Franktown....

    February 9, 2013

  • Bo

It figures. It probably wont snow even though accuweather still shows snow starting at 5. In the end it is better this way because I was starting to get late cancels because of the drive and it would have been a wild scramble at game time to get the right amount of characters in the right roles.... a less than fun situation when you try to coordinate one of these things....

    February 9, 2013

    • Cindy W.

Bo - you made the correct call. It started to snow here about 20 minutes ago and it is coming down at a pretty good clip. it wont be long and the roads are going to be pretty slippery- so- all in all I guess it was the right thing- but I wish that the weather would have behaved- at least til tomorrow!!!

      February 9, 2013

  • Diana

Oh, it's coming down pretty good up here in Lakewood. Even more at my sister's place in Westminster.

    February 9, 2013

  • Cindy W.

You watch- it wont snow! or if it does- it will be a dusting :(

    February 9, 2013

  • heather

    I think it won't snow :)

Feb 23 works for me too. :( I am with you Diana- darn weather!!!!

    February 9, 2013

  • Diana

Darn weather!! The 23rd works for me! My Saturdays are open so far.

    February 9, 2013

  • heather

Feb 23 would work for me, but March 2nd is a no go since I am on call.

    February 9, 2013

  • Cindy W.

I am with Bob- my calendar is open- excited for the game :)

    February 8, 2013

  • Bob F.

Hi Bo! As mention earlier - Feb 23rd or later works for Christy and I. Really looking forward to this freeform game, so the sooner the better IMO!

    February 8, 2013

  • Bo

Please also note that I have changed the date to 2014, just as a placeholder until we can get a new date set...

    February 8, 2013

  • Bo

    Hi Everyone,

Based upon the feedback from the group and the weather forecast, I have decided to postpone tomorrow's event. Please let me know what your availability is over the next few weeks and we will see if it makes sense to reschedule before or after the next party...Sorry to you all but in the short time I have been running this group I have become too fond of you all to risk you on a night where the forecast continues to say it will start snowing at 7 pm, making the roads out of Franktown treacherous...Warmest Regards, Bo

    February 8, 2013

  • Chris A.

Weather forecasts are notoriously extreme and lessen as the date approaches. It is awkward to reschedule based on a forecast alone, but the journey we made back from the Christmas game was probably riskier than I am comfortable with.
My suggestion is not to reschedule until Saturday itself, but be set up to contact everybody, unless others feel comfortable with driving if the forecast comes to pass as is...just my thoughts.

    February 7, 2013

    • Cindy W.

I think that is a good plan Chris

I know I was scared driving home from the xmas event. I had a long drive back to Aurora and not being able to even see the hwy lines in my little Cobalt was very scary. I am just mentioning this because whomever is attending who has a far drive in a non-Co weather car should be cautious. I would love to attend this event, but too much going on.

      February 7, 2013

  • Bo

Hey everyone. Chris alerted me to the fact that the weather might be bad on Saturday. I will ask you all your opinion on rescheduling. Do you want to keep this date or do you want me to reschedule? Let me know?

    Thanks!
    Bo

    February 6, 2013

    • Bob F.

Hit enter too soon. Anyway, rescheduling is fine for Christy and I, except that we won't be able to make it if it is on Feb 16th.

      February 6, 2013

    • heather

We can make it no problem on Saturday ( we have a Jeep ) but the 16th is a no go for us.

Sorry for the delay in communications. I have had one cancellation and one person I am not sure about, so I will have to recast some roles (sorry... :( ). I will get the final cast list and costume info out tomorrow. Sorry for the delay but I was giving people as much time as I could....

Comment on Meetup site: You should all have received 2 communications from me. Let me know if you did not receive them...

  • Dave

Hey, sorry to bone out, but I'm not going to be able to make it. I'll send an e-mail. Good luck. Maybe next time huh?
