How do you fancy making your own stool in a day? - take the challenge from cutting the wood from the woodland, shaping it, and finally sitting on it!! The Sustainability Centre are putting on an event just for you -The Wild Women!!! The idea came from Kate who was chatting to some of our gang and suddenly the event was born!!
We will be spending the weekend on top of the South Downs and you can join us for either all of it or dip in and out - see the programme below.
Friday night - Arrive at Sustainability Centre to stay at The Lodge
Saturday - 10am Green Woodworking course (details below) or spend time relaxing at the Centre
Saturday evening - join together for food at the Centre and those that want to stay at the Lodge
Sunday - join our planned walk across the Downs leaving at 10.30am and visiting a farm to hopefully witness some lambs taking their first breaths - and possibly even holding one!!
The amazing course - Green Woodworking 10am
Make a beautiful stool in a day to take home. Learn about the different values of different trees, learn how to join wood without a hammer and nails, learn how to shape the wood using traditional methods with very basic hand tools, create a rustic robust little stool to last a lifetime! The course costs £55 and will be run by one of the best teachers in the country (Darren Hammerton), with tools and materials all provided.
