After much anticipation, Flagler Garden will host a groundbreaking event at its downtown location on September 22nd, 2013. The groundbreaking will take place from 11am-4pm at 425 NE 3rd Ave in Fort Lauderdale. The community garden will finally have the first stages of construction underway thanks to the funds and donations they have received from The City of Fort Lauderdale CRA, Whole Foods Market Fort Lauderdale, local supporters, and fundraising events over the last year.
Guests are encouraged to BYOC (bring your own container) to create personal mini gardens. Feeling earthy? Attendees are invited to share their hopes and dreams for the garden by participating in a time capsule activity. Quench your thirst with apple pie mimosas and micheladas by Whole Foods Market. Food trucks and green market vendors will also be on site to offer delicious snacks all day. While enjoying sneak peaks of the final garden designs, guests will have the first opportunity to sign up for a plot. The day will continue with guest speakers including Chad Scott, Flagler Garden President), Cadence Landscape Architects, Dean Trantalis, District 2 FTL City Commissioner, and Juan Nunez, Whole Foods Market Regional President.
